Lake access and elevated views draw campers to this cliff-top campground on a peninsula jutting into Lake Meredith. The dozen first-come, first-served sites perch above the water, with most offering direct lake views and space for RVs up to about 15 feet. Larger rigs face challenges maneuvering the layout, though some campers report successfully fitting longer units with careful positioning.
Each site includes two picnic tables, a fire ring, pedestal grill, and covered shelter. Four private bathrooms feature flush toilets and individual showers with hot water and good pressure. "The water was hot with good pressure," notes Shari G.. The facilities stay open seasonally, with winter closures possible during cold months.
A boat ramp sits just downhill with extensive parking that suggests heavy summer use, though fall and winter visitors often find the area quiet. The lake level fluctuates significantly, currently running well below capacity. Wind can be persistent and strong across the exposed peninsula. Cell service reaches most sites, and the campground provides drinking water, trash collection, and a dump station at the entrance.
Fishing opportunities extend from shore and boat launch access. N I. mentions "fishing, hunting, hiking or just enjoying the sun will fill your day." Limited hiking trails exist nearby, with more extensive options across the lake. The town of Fritch sits less than four miles away for supplies and dining. Campers with dogs should watch for stickers in the surrounding vegetation.
The 14-day limit and no-fee camping make this a practical base for exploring the Texas Panhandle. Best suited for tent campers and smaller RVs who prioritize lake access over hookups.
