Great staff. Nice clean BR/SH/grounds
Setting is simple, nice and clean. Staff was extremely helpful. Located on Highway 24. This is a dark sky community, so it was hard to see the signage, but worth the trouble. Nice enough Mexican restaurant next-door.
Nice facilities & cute place
Just like the title says, the bathrooms and showers were very nice and even though the sites were close, there were privacy fences put up. Only problem was the place said it was open and when we tried to go in the office it was closed. Just stayed there for one night and it was around $30, a little pricey but we didn’t have any where else to crash. It was a solid place. Probably better for glamping purposes.
What a nice Park to spend some time in the fascinating area of Capitol Reef NP
What a nice Park to spend some time in the fascinating area of Capitol Reef NP and Great Escalante NP! Beautiful spots with a perfect view, clean and comfortable restrooms/showers and cute cabins to rent, if you didn’t plan on sleeping in your Van/RV. We were lucky to get Spot 12, a pull through hook-up slot. Thanks for having us, we are happy to come back to the super friendly hosts and this cozy park!

Laid back, easy campground
Close to a bike/ ohv trail. Restaurant next door. Great view
Nice and calm
Had to book online, but received a call from an employee with more info of the site. Pretty solid.
Has the basics - very windy!
This site has the basics (clean toilets and showers). The laundry facilties were closed (due to drought?) and the check in/reception was closed (due to remodelling?) so we had a remote check in which was fine.
The site had nice views but is very exposed and very very windy which means we kept time outside of the van to a minimum as it wasn't very relaxing. There are wooden shelters for tent spots to mitigate the wind but this would still make me nervous if I were in a tent!
Great place great host
Great place great host
Attentive Service
It’s close to Capitol Reef NP, Torrey & fuel. Night Sky telescope available, bikes for kids, clean bathrooms and traveled RV sites. But I was pleased to meet the owner who came and greeted me at my site, chatting and said to call if I needed anything. Close to Scenic Byway 12 too. Stayed 2 nights.
Nice spot for an RV park
I'm more of a fan of dispersed camping, but we wanted a spot with showers and internet for a few nights. The host was welcoming and let us choose our spot, however if you are planning to work during the days, make plans for a new spot after the official checkout.
The spots on the edge looking over the field toward the cliffs were more secluded and nice, but very windy. There were wind huts for some, and fire rings although we didn't feel comfortable using them given the dryness and the wind.
There are spots for rigs of all sizes, and some with electric hook ups, some without. Wifi included, pay laundry.
Very close to Capitol Reef. Restaurant across the street is expensive, but good if you're looking for a fancier meal.

Close to Capitol Reef and Cooler!
Sand Creek is 15 miles from Capitol Reef and 1,500’ higher - much cooler. Good wi-fi, showers, bathrooms and laundry. Firewood and ice are available for purchase. The grounds have not been maintained like they were two years ago in 2019, but that may be due to the drought. Sand Creek has simple reasonable cabins along with 6 tent sites and maybe 8 or 9 RV sites.
Capitol Reef has a great campground but it often fills up. This is a great alternative for $22 a night for a tent site.
Nice quiet place
Owner super guy. Great place. Was last minute find and super place w great views
Sand Creek RV Park, Utah
Located in Torrey, Utah this RV park was a great place to stay when visiting Capitol Reef National Park. The National Park was a 10 minute drive away from the park. They’re still open in the Winter, but we didn’t find out they closed their showers and bathrooms until we were told upon arrival. (They close 10/31)
The night sky was magnificent and may have made up for our inability to shower for a couple days. We were the only ones in the park, Winter camping. It’s located in a dark sky area, so the skies are clear and the air is clean. The surrounding views of the mountains and red rock were also gorgeous. The WiFi was good as well.
Might be adequate, if you are not picky
We spent a single night in one of the tent sites, which are immediately behind the office/owner's residence. Sites have a parking space, fire ring with grill attachment, a picnic table and a gravel tent pad. They are small, and not separated from one another, so if you're looking for any level of privacy you won't find it here. On the other hand, if you like sharing space with other campers you may enjoy it. You also may experience those staying in the RV section walking through your site in order to get to the restrooms/showers.
The campground has both firewood and ice available for purchase. The remainder of the campground store is currently closed due to Covid regulations.
If you have any concerns about Covid (this is being written in September 2020), SC is not a site I would recommend. While the owners have placed signs suggesting social distancing guidelines, including masks while in the restrooms/shower area, compliance among the campers in a nearly full campground was minimal. One unmasked female camper was loudly discussing all the airports she had passed through on her way to the area, including Chicago and Denver.
Even little details were missed, like the soap in the restrooms being organic and not antibacterial.
Sand Creek is located on Hwy 24, and the road noise didn't quiet down until around 11 PM. Probably not a good choice any time for a light sleeper.
If you have a self-contained RV and are just looking for a place to park for the night, Sand Creek is likely to fit your needs. For a tent camper, its main recommendation is the ability to reserve a site in advance, as most of the other campgrounds in the area are first come, first serve.
Amazing views of Sand Creek wash and red rocks.
This is a nice little Gem. It has tent spots for $20 a night, RV hook ups and nice little cabins for $45 or a deluxe cabin for $65 a night. There is a store on site and it is still close to town. Picnic tables, and fire pits at each spot and lots of shade. This is a really nice camping spot. Close to Capitol Reef or the Boulder mountain and also lots of great jeep trails up Sand creek road. This is God's country.
