Great place

It is a great and peaceful place but you might need an SUV to get there.

Amazing peaceful site

Quite and very peaceful site. Highly recommend staying here.

I arrived about 9pm last night, and was the first one here. I recommend a SUV to access this site, but i don’t know about others. Full reception!

Nice Truck Camping Near Zion

Not sure how the path is at other seasons, but the ruts in the road require decent vehicle clearance

Quick overnight after Zion

Lots of spots. Got here late in the afternoon during the week, pretty crowded, only a handful of places left. Easy to access right off the road. If you have good clearance you can cross the creek and camp on the other side.

Seems a little better suited for small RV’s than tents due to the bugs. There were quite a few bugs.

Good site near Zion

Pretty popular and slightly confusing to navigate but a reliable place to camp at least in winter. Flowing stream on one side makes for good background sound. Road was fine if a little bumpy with a 2wd sprinter.

Perfect spot to pull off for the night. Spots tucked next to trees that shelter from sunrise, if you’re a late riser ;)

It's a place to sleep

This is just a place you pull off to the side of the road, sleep, then wake up and go to Zion National Park. There are no facilities, but the beauty of it is that you don't need a reservation and you can almost always find a spot to crash for the night.

Great camping spot

Close to Zion parc .. (around 20min) Nice spot with tree for hammock. Quiet and free. The sign who announce the camping is pretty small and discret so we took few minutes to find the road. We liked this spot.

Crowded

Stayed here in the fall- super packed, sites are close together, not much privacy. Also looked like there were a few squatters who had been there a while... Lots of ants, views weren’t great. Proximity to Zion was nice but wouldn’t stay here again.

Pretty but not amazing

We pulled in at around 4 on a Thursday afternoon. There weren’t very many spots left, but we managed to find a good one. On first glance, it seemed amazing. The water, shade, quiet, hammock trees... upon further inspection there are some flaws. There are ants and fire ants, everywhere. This can be avoided by wearing shoes, but it’s worth mentioning. The next thing is there is human poop and toilet paper by the river. This is hopefully just at our site... we stayed 4 nights and there were some people around who stayed longer and some left quicker. It gets cool at night, but I wouldn’t put the temperature below 65. The high was around 100, so the shade is a must.

100’s of people and no facilities....

This place is fine if you’re desperate- there’s tons of spots! But the fields in and around the camp area are filled with human and animal poop...they really need to build some pit toilets or something out here because it is really gross!!

we had a super sweet spot that was pretty secluded until.. one moment where we really wish we had been secluded lol. also someone slept close to my poop tree which i felt super bad about but she left quickly in the morning .

overall a really sweet spot besides all the hay in some spots. had to leave earlier then i wanted because of hay. very allergic.

Cool Campsite w/ Stream Access - Pin Location Incorrect

I agree with a couple other reviewers that say the pin for this campground is slightly off - the good BLM campsite is slightly up the road, about a mile or a bit more, and is marked by an old, run-down abandoned RV right at the front of the camp.

We stayed here in June of 2020 and it was HOT! But nevertheless not unbearable. The little stream that runs across the campground was our saving grace; just deep enough to put our chairs in and dip in our toes. Also great for showering with biodegradable soap.

There are a decent amount of sites, if I had to guess, I’d say twenty or even more. It is dispersed but there isn’t a ton of privacy. Not a ton of places to dig your daily foxhole. If you are unfortunate to get some noisy neighbors, it won’t be fun. We had some VERY noisy and inconsiderate neighbors that played “I Got Loaded” on repeat for like two days. Every other group, however, was very respectful. Saw groups of children and adults alike on horseback many times. Several of the occupied spaces seemed to be occupied by at least semi-permanent residents.

Reasonably close to Zion and perfect for the price. Also super close to other amazing hikes on BLM land. Actual road into campsite can be a little tricky depending on which way you go, we did see one person in a 2WD vehicle get stuck in sand, but our neighbor made it in and out many times in a Volkswagen Jetta. Highly recommend this campsite when visiting Zion! Good proximity to Hurricane (pronounced Hurricin, lol) for essentials.

good pull off space before you head up the Mountain

Not bad for FREE!!!! We pulled off here with our doggies and children, so it was safe for our doggies to go potty and there is plenty of dispersed camping areas with rocks fire pits. It's super close to all the good hike spots and not as cold as if you were to keep heading up to Kolob res. all in all a really good pull off if you need to relieve your self or animals before you are not able to pull off for a bit of a drive. You're pretty close to town and if not take a drive up to Kolob where John runs a little store for anything you may need. bring plenty of water and any thing to keep you warm. Also please clean up after yourself, we like to bring an extra bag and wherever we go we pick up trash ours or not!! Mother Nature needs and deserves to remain pure as it can.

Pin is incorrect

Most of the pictures people have posted here are for the camp sites just about a mile up the road. This pin has all the garbage and is an awful place to camp. I highly suggest coming here but drive a little up the road and off to the right you’ll see the white camping post that says you can stay for 14 days. That area is nice with about 20 sites. Most have prebuilt fire pits. Large (5 cars big) and small (1 car and 2 tents) areas. Nice trees and good shade. Picture is of the garbage area.

Its there alright. And very "free"

Just very sketchy. And I use this app often haha. I kinda like a few signs or camping totem poles. Makes me feel at least this is an "okayish safe spot" There's a bunch of better sites near by in my opinion. I stayed at the Le Verkin spot, near Virgin dam. Turns out there's a lot near here. And killer views!

Great dispersed camping

It’s easy to miss the turn onto the dirt road, so definitely scout it out on Google maps ahead of time. The road can be muddy and rutted after a rain, so take weather into account. That said, we got our 30 year old 30 foot motorhome in and out multiple times.

All around a great spot. Right next to the creek, generally quiet with few other campers. Nice and dark at night for star gazing, and shade trees for during the day. Tons of hiking in every direction, and Zion is close by.

The area was beautiful, but the campsites don't have tables or firepits. There was also a huge cattle ranch near where we camped, and the noise made it hard to sleep.

Quiet and beautiful with dark starry nights

We love camping here and come often. We would usually visit between the months of March-Early November. Spring and fall bring sunny days and cool evenings and mornings. During the warmer summer months we take to the water. The temperature is always a bit cooler than in town.  There are no fees but also no amenities. So please, if you pack it in then you need to pack it out. Bring plenty of water for drinking and cleaning. Make sure to plan ahead for bathroom/ shower needs as those are not available. If you follow the river you can find some spots with good shade. We usually find a spot near to the river in lower sunset, some spots around the bends are deep enough to swim. There is a lot of hiking nearby as well as horse trails. The kids really enjoyed hunting for crawdads, watching the tadpoles/frogs, and the cows as they would cross through for water. The nights are dark and allows for an awesome night of stargazing.

Unreal Utah BLM

We were here for a long weekend & it was unreal. There’s a TON of space and it was great for mountain biking. Highly recommend.

We did bonfires & outdoor stoves and had no issue with “dry heat”. There were tons of baby cactus everywhere, which made it all feel extra desert-y.

Not paying for a camp site was nice however, good spots were taken very VERY early, and absolutely zero shade in the hot sun. Had to leave camp site early because of heat and couldn’t come back until sun was down. There is a small stream right up the road. Video shows part of drive to Zion and only short drive to Zion from campsite. This place offered a quiet secluded camping spot which would’ve been enjoyable not in summer months
