Beautiful campground and the sites by a creek that runs through are very relaxing. Bathhouse is very clean and the staff was very friendly. Will definitely stay here again.

If you're staying in a tent, it has to be site 9. Every other site is super tiny, and the tent camping in general is very crowded. It is a nice Campground and very friendly but they are definitely trying to conserve space.

Flintlock Campground is near Boone, NC, Appalachian State University and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Staff are friendly and helpful. There are many nearby activities for all ages and interests.

Nice, very clean campground. Spaces are close, but overall our family really liked Flintlock. The beautiful creek that runs through it was a real treat. The kids loved climbing the huge rocks and exploring. The bathhouse is the cleanest one I’ve seen at any campground! We’ll definitely be visiting here again.

We stayed here in our popup over Easter. when we pulled out the beds they were almost over the running stream which was amazing. put you right to sleep. The wifi was a little slow but hey we are camping not playing on the internet. 

The bath house was clean and hot water. We did not have anyone on either side of us but were others on the other side of the stream. We loved sitting on the picnic table and listening to nature and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. We would go back in a heartbeat. 

The only thing is the curve and the hill at the entrance but then again you are in the mountains.

I first camped at this campground over forty-five years ago, so I expected this family-owned campground to be run down. I was pleasantly surprised because it is a very well maintained campground with mostly level sites and lots of shade. I was further impressed by the staff friendliness. When I checked in, the host was very nice, and when I returned later to look at the camp store, another host was behind the desk, and he was friendly. 

This campground has sites for tents, popups, travel trailers, and RVs. Even though mine was a teardrop camper, I stayed in the popup section with water and electricity. I feel fortunate to have gotten site 23, which is at the end of the lane and next to the creek where it forks and joins back up to make a single creek close to my campsite. The only drawback was backing into the site since it was the end of the lane—not an easy chore. Needless to say, this campground is in a beautiful setting. As far as location, there was some noise from Hwy 105. However, that did not bother me that much since I was so close to the sounds of the creek, and since I was staying in a camper. 

The bath house is modern with tile floors and hot water, but on the men’s side, there was an odor just outside the door before you go in. Even though the showers were hot, it was a little cool inside since the autumn weather has begun. There is a thermostat, but I don’t think it had been adjusted for fall weather yet. These were the only complaints that I would have about the bath house, which I consider to be minor. 

Inside the office, there is a store with basic supplies and a recreation area with a pool table, pinball machine, and checkerboard table. Visitors feel welcome there because of the sitting area next to the fireplace. 

This is a campground just for a variety of ages. There were some retirees, but there were also many young people. As a matter of fact, several young people were playing basketball. There was also a playground area and a volleyball court. During the summer, you wouldn’t want to be spending all of your time at the campsite anyway. There are lots of things to do and see in the area such as: Tweetsie Railroad theme park, Grandfather Mountain State Park, Blowing Rock,“Horn in the West” outdoor drama, Mystery Hill, Mast General Store, and much more. 

Overall, I highly recommend this campground. It is one of my favorites.

My parents were visiting from LA and we decided to visit my niece at App State. We needed 2 spots close together and Flintlock was able to accommodate. They had 2 drive thru sites for us. My husband is pretty new to pulling our camper so we thought drive thru would be better but even those were tight to turn in and get out. The sites were so close we couldn't even put out our awnings!

The staff was friendly but when we arrived the office attendant was more worried about chit chatting with someone else we were not given proper directions into the site so ended up backing in anyway.

The wifi was useless even to just look up attraction info in the area, took 2 minutes to look up a phone number to order in dinner.

The drive into/out of the campground is on a main drive and on a hill which makes it difficult leaving.

For experienced campers this may be okay but I wouldn't recommend for novice campers. Also if you plan to sit outside don't expect any privacy.

We likely won't be back to this location.

Small tight campground just outside of Boone, NC. Very tight sites. Many long term campers. Right on the main road (Rte 105). Tons of road noise. Convenient to Boone, but not our preferred campground.

This is a wonderful family campground with amazing people running the campground close to Boone and Banner Elk. There is a beautiful creek that runs through the property. Campsites are level. Bathhouse is adequate but they could use an additional restroom facility on the cabin/tent side of the creek. Only downside is the road noise from Hwy. 105 which can be extremely noisy.

Love this campground. My family has been going here for years. There is a beautiful stream running through the campground that doubles as an amazing playground for the kids. Bathrooms are nice. The office area is nice and stocked with games. It’s in a great location very close to Boone and Blowing Rock. The sites often get booked quickly, so reserve spots well in advance!

Polite staff, relaxed vibe, rustic but clean bathrooms. Campsites on the river. Rushing sounds to pull you to sleep. Tons of hiking nearby but also close to shops and restaurants in Boone.

This campground has a very nice little creek running through it. The people running it are very nice and since it right outside boone nc its very close to shops, restaurants and hiking trails. The only negative thing i can say is the tent sites are a little small and its right off a major road so its a little noisey but that didnt bother us we'll be going back.

Flintlock is easy to get to but you’ll still feel like you are camping. Staff is friendly and facilities are clean. There’s a beautiful mini river running through the campground with a lot of rocks to jump on. My children spent a hours every day exploring.
