Lofers Bend West

Within Whitney Point Recreation Area, Lofers Bend West operates as an Army Corps of Engineers campground from April through September. The facility accommodates RVs up to 45 feet with electric and water hookups, plus offers non-electric sites for tent camping and smaller rigs.

Sites range from heavily wooded to lakefront positions, with some perched directly on the water's edge. Amy K. stayed at "site 63 which is right on lake edge" and noted the covered picnic tables, fire pits with grates, and stand-up covered grills at each site. The campground provides boat ramp access across the inlet, making it popular with anglers targeting Lake Whitney's fish populations.

Wildlife activity is common throughout the area, with deer frequently spotted by campers. Site spacing allows for privacy, and facilities receive regular maintenance during the operating season. Weekend crowds tend to bring more noise and activity, while weekday stays offer quieter conditions. Non-electric sites occupy clifftop positions with maximum sun exposure for solar charging.

The campground connects to Lofers Bend East and other nearby Corps facilities, creating multiple camping options within the recreation area. Rates span $16-$80 per night depending on site type and hookup availability, with advance reservations accepted for guaranteed spots during peak season.

Fantastic Views

Friendly gate attendant. Stayed in a non-electric site, incredibly spacious, right on a cliff. Only a handful of sites on this loop. Maximum solar charging.

Lofers Bend West

Good Camping Monday - Thursday if you enjoy the tranquility. Weekends - party all night, and loud drinkers arrive. Site 62 looked good.

Lake View

We stayed at site 63 which is right on lake edge. Amazing sunsets. Across inlet from boat ramp. The sites have covered picnic tables with both fire pits with grates and stand up covered grills. There are very wooded sites and then ones like this. Didn’t catch fish this trip, but is a good lake for fishing. Lots of deer too.
