Horse enthusiasts will find dedicated equestrian facilities at this seasonal campground within Willamette Mission State Park. The horse camp operates from mid-May through September, providing full hookups for RVs up to 65 feet alongside designated areas for equestrian camping. Sites accommodate the unique needs of travelers with horses, offering direct trail access into the surrounding park system.
The Willamette River borders the property, creating fishing opportunities that draw anglers throughout the season. However, as Brandi L. notes, "Has an area to go fishing but I never caught anything." The park's location near water means mosquitoes become active at dusk. Flooding occurs annually during winter months, which explains the restricted seasonal operation.
Beyond equestrian trails, the park features disc golf, mountain biking paths, and a shooting range. The property houses Oregon's largest Black Cottonwood tree, which serves as both a landmark and educational feature for visiting school groups. Campers can access the site by vehicle, boat, or on foot, with the location serving as a stop along the Willamette Valley Bikeway.
For those exploring beyond the horse camp, nearby options include Beaver Island Group Camp — Willamette Mission State Park and Maud Williamson State Recreation Site. The combination of equestrian amenities and river access makes this a functional base for multi-day riding adventures.
