Cross Winds Family Campground

Cross Winds Family Campground sits on open terrain near a fishing pond, five minutes off Interstate 85 in Linwood. This private campground operates year-round and accommodates RVs up to 90 feet with full hookups including electric, water, sewer, cable TV, and WiFi. Sites range from open gravel pull-throughs to back-in spots tucked into the trees.

The campground features two distinct areas that offer different camping experiences. Loop B provides shaded, back-in sites that feel more private, while the main area has level gravel pull-through sites in open terrain. Campers consistently note the facility's cleanliness, particularly the modern bathhouse and laundry room. The property includes a small pool, playground, walking trails, and a camp store with propane sales.

"Pretty quiet overall nice little fishing pond," reports Vance S., noting that site A26 provides good fishing access. Despite the proximity to I-85, multiple reviews mention the quiet atmosphere, especially during weekdays. The campground offers trash pickup at individual sites and maintains clearly marked entry procedures for late arrivals.

Cross Winds works well as an overnight stop for interstate travelers or as a base for exploring the area. For additional camping choices in the region, see campgrounds near Salisbury. Great campground!

Easy and close to route 85. Very quiet campground! Definitely not a parking lot. Very woodsy and very well kept. Clean bathroom and laundry room. Also propane available.

Great Family Campground

This is our 2nd time here, this time for a quick overnight stay. I really like this place! Beautiful, friendly campground. Large camper sites, walking trails, pool, playground, laundry facilities, store, and showers. Everything was very clean. Literally 5 minutes off the interstate, but very peaceful and quiet! We stayed at site B6, which was full hookups, including cable TV. Trash pickup at site.

Quiet, Friendly, Beautiful

This is a very peaceful campground nestled into the beautiful hills. Lots of room between campsites! Trees and the wonderful sounds of nature. Gravel site that needed 2 blocks to make level on site B16. Picnic table, fire ring, playground, horseshoes, shower and toilets, laundry room; all on well maintained and beautiful clean grounds.

Perfect for Overnight

This place is perfect as an overnight stop, as it is right off I-85 north of Charlotte, NC. We booked it online last minute, while driving & let ourselves in that evening (everything is clearly marked). The laundry & bathrooms are immaculate!! They looked to be adding on another bathhouse & more sites behind it.
The playground area is dated but still retro-fun for the kids.
There was a pool, but we didn’t get to use it.
My interaction with the staff was brief, but she was very nice!
I wouldn’t say a destination, but well worth it for an overnight with kid activities & super clean facilities to use!

Great staff and large sites

Wonderful staff we were there from Monday (Labor Day) thru Wednesday so very quiet. I understand it is busy on weekends and holidays but we are lucky enough to camp during the week.

Site was large and very level. Bought new Anderson levelers and haven’t even had a chance to use them.

SiteI believe it was site C1. this is a new section.

Great campground, wonderful hosts.

Easy access right off 85, but far enough its quiet. Nice really long pull through sites, place is well maintained and lots to offer, whether passing through or wanting to explore the area. Nice clean bathhouse, modern, fairly new, full hoopups include cable and wifi, you wont be disappointed. They have a small pool and sundeck, playground for the kids. We were treated so kindly, we felt like family. Cant recommend this place enough. Big level gravel sites, they had back in sites further back in the trees, so they can accommodate you with shade or more open sites, just let them know which you prefer.
