Fishing and swimming opportunities draw campers to Sebago Cabin Camp, located within the 47,000-acre Harriman State Park just an hour from New York City. The facility offers rustic cabins rather than traditional campsites, each equipped with four walls, cots, a refrigerator, and electricity but no plumbing or heat. Outside each cabin, campers find a fire pit, grill, and picnic table.
The cabins sit near Sebago Lake, which provides a large beach area for swimming and lounging during warmer months. However, several campers note that Lake Welch nearby offers better on-site swimming access. Hiking and biking trails throughout Harriman State Park connect directly from the camp area. Cell service proves spotty, with T-Mobile users reporting no signal at all.
Weekend programming includes outdoor movie nights and communal bonfires, with karaoke events also scheduled regularly. Sara P. appreciated that there's "absolutely zero phone service (for T-Mobile) which was AMAZING." The camp provides firewood for purchase on-site, and several small towns within driving distance offer restaurants and supplies.
For additional cabin options in the region, The Stephen & Betsy Corman AMC Harriman Outdoor Center operates about four miles northeast with similar rustic accommodations.
