Craters of the Moon RV Park operates as a KoA facility from April through November, with sites accommodating RVs up to 50 feet and full hookups available for $25-$55 per night. The campground sits behind Pickle's Place in Arco, though GPS navigation can mislead drivers down rough dirt roads rather than the proper entrance through town.
The facility shows signs of age across its infrastructure, with several campers noting maintenance issues in restrooms and inconsistent site conditions. Some sites offer shade trees while others remain completely exposed to sun, and the small pool can feel crowded when the campground fills to capacity. Corvid C. observed "Poor trees are half dead" during an October stay. A neighboring property creates noise disturbances with loudspeakers playing reveille at sunrise and the national anthem at sunset.
Standard KoA amenities include laundry facilities, a camp store, and daily complimentary waffles and coffee from 9-10 AM. The campground provides both pull-through and back-in sites, plus tent camping areas and rental options including teepees. Staff members receive consistent praise for friendliness despite operational challenges. Ice cream socials happen in evenings, and the facility maintains a dog park and playground.
The location serves as a convenient base for exploring Craters of the Moon National Monument, located 20 minutes away. Evgeniy D. found his tent site "clean and quiet" with "hot water in the shower in the morning." AT&T provides decent cell coverage with 3-4 bars and speeds up to 16 Mbps. Electrical service outages occasionally affect some sites and impact the septic system, though management runs generators when needed. For additional options, campers can explore other camping near Arco or nearby facilities like Big Lost RV Park.
