Outdoorsy Bayfield

RV travelers seeking full hookups and river access will find Outdoorsy Bayfield positioned along open terrain near the water in this southwestern Colorado town. The campground accommodates rigs up to 65 feet with electric, water, and sewer connections at each site, plus amenities including WiFi hotspots, showers, and a dump station.

Sites vary considerably in spacing and privacy. Some reviewers note cramped conditions with limited room for tow vehicles, while others describe well-spaced sites with grass areas and shade trees. The most desirable spots back directly up to the private lake, though these fill quickly. Highway 160 runs nearby, creating consistent road noise that some campers mask with air conditioning fans. Motion sensors in the bathhouse can be unreliable, so bringing a headlamp proves helpful for nighttime visits.

The property features walking trails and open areas for pets, with Gene S. noting there are "plenty of walking trails and areas to run with the pups." Access roads can be rough, requiring careful navigation for larger rigs. The location serves as a convenient stopping point 20 miles from Durango, with camping near Bayfield offering additional options for those exploring the Four Corners region.

Staff availability at check-in varies, and the facility operates seasonally despite some directory listings suggesting year-round operation.

Guests frequently mentioned well-maintained facilities and level sites with full hookups. Several visitors reported problems regarding cramped spacing and highway noise from Hwy 160.

Lots of potential poor management

When we arrived, there is nobody to greet us at check-in. It was unfortunate to be with so many other campers so close by when there are so many other sites available, especially since we only were staying for one night the lights in the bathhouse go dark after about five minutes because the motion sensors do not work in the shower or toilet stalls so bring your headlamp. One of the park staff asked me to not walk on the grass, even though there was no sign in place saying not to. Sites are very small and cramped with not even enough room to park our tow vehicle with our 30 foot Airstream.

All you need

Convenient RV Park. Clean bathrooms, good laundry room. Just a stop over for the night for us.

Very nice!

Well manicured lawns, campsites, and common grounds. There are an abundance of flowers, streams, fishing areas, and walking trails. Gravel sites are very level. All hookups are available at every site, including cable TV.

Lovely grounds, but...

The grounds are really lovely, but the spaces are super close together. We could not sit outside unless we wanted to be 5 feet from the sewer hose on the trailer next to us. There are spaces with room and a view of the river, but the vast majority did not. You can hear Hwy 160 very clearly, so we ran the A/C fan to drown out the noise.

Due to COVID restrictions, the bathrooms and showers were closed, so I can't comment on them.

This RV park is the perfect location for us on our trips to and from CA from Colorado, but at over $55 a night, we may see what else we can find I. The general area.

Will come back!

This site is amazing, great staff willing to help and friendly. The bathrooms are very well kept and the upkeep of the park is great. They have wifi hotspots throughout the park so it works on all corners. The sites are well spaced out with grass on each side and big enough for a 38' fifthwheen with plenty of space to park full hookups and shade trees in some sites. The lake view spots are amazing backed right up to their private lake. Plenty of walking trails and areas to run with the pups. This place is 20 from durango but bayfield has plenty to do in town. Even though they state they are open year round on goodsam and other rv apps they ARE NOT.
