Durango RV Resort operates seasonally from May through October, accommodating RVs up to 60 feet with full hookups and offering sites from $47-$197 per night. The privately managed resort sits about 15 minutes east of downtown Durango, though reviewers consistently note traffic noise from the nearby highway affects many sites. Access roads are gravel and can be rough, particularly during wet conditions.
The resort caters primarily to RVers, with tent sites receiving mixed reviews from campers who found them less appealing than the RV accommodations. Sarah S. preferred site 43, noting it "felt a little more private than some and had a few trees and bushes around it." Back-in sites generally offer more privacy than pull-through options, while sites designed for larger rigs resemble parking lot arrangements with minimal landscaping.
Full-service amenities include a seasonal pool, mini golf course, pickleball courts, laundry facilities, and an on-site store. The resort maintains clean restroom and shower facilities, with multiple private shower stalls available. WiFi service performs well for most internet needs, though some campers use hotspots for work calls. Cell coverage varies by carrier, with AT&T providing adequate service throughout the property.
Several reviewers mention the resort's community atmosphere during peak season, though this can translate to crowded conditions and noise from neighboring campers. Sites closer to the highway experience more traffic noise, leading some guests to use fans or earplugs for sleeping. Grace D. noted her mountain view site "is directly above the freeway and we needed earplugs for the traffic noise."
The location provides convenient access to places to camp around Durango and serves as a base for exploring Mesa Verde National Park, less than an hour away. Reservations are recommended during the summer season when demand peaks.
