Horse enthusiasts will find direct trail access at Camp McClellan Horse Trails Campground, a county-owned facility with 50 sites currently expanding to 100. The campground sits in a pine forest with some sites positioned along a creek, where bird songs mix with occasional horse neighing from nearby riders.
Sites include both back-in and pull-through options with 30-amp electric hookups, though pull-throughs are typically reserved for pickups and horse trailers. Two large dump stations serve the facility. While hiking and biking aren't permitted on the horse trails, the Chief Ladiga Trail offers over 30 miles of paved biking nearby. Campers looking for different amenities might consider Michael Tucker Memorial Park & Chief Ladiga Trail, which provides closer trail access.
