Anglers and boaters find direct access to Alabama River Lakes at this Corps of Engineers campground, where a boat ramp and fishing pier connect campers to the water. Millers Ferry Campground spreads across both wooded and open terrain, accommodating RVs up to 100 feet with water and electric hookups at paved and gravel sites.
The campground maintains a low-key atmosphere that appeals to repeat visitors. L&A C. notes the property is "easily accommodated our 40 ft Rv/ fifth wheel & Dooley" with good water pressure and clean bathrooms. Sites include fire rings with cooking grates, picnic tables, and shepherd hooks. A playground sits near the swimming area, while laundry facilities charge $1 per load.
Water activities dominate the recreation options here. The campground provides truck and trailer parking at the boat ramp, making it popular with fishing enthusiasts who target the river and connected lakes. A designated swimming area gives families access to the water without needing a boat. Nature walks follow paved roads through the property, though dedicated hiking trails remain limited.
Access requires navigating some rough roads, particularly after rain. The campground operates year-round with reservations available, though Joe O. points out it's "secluded, quiet, right on the water" with only the lack of sewer hookups as a drawback. An on-site dump station handles waste disposal needs. Bug spray proves essential during warmer months due to mosquitoes and ants.
Camden sits about 15 minutes away for basic supplies, with larger shopping requiring a drive to neighboring towns. For additional camping options in the region, explore campgrounds near Camden. The combination of water access and spacious sites keeps many campers returning to this riverside location.
