Overview
Lakeview Campground is located on Meadowlark Lake about 50 miles east of Worland, Wyoming on the west side of scenic Cloud Peak Skyway, near the Cloud Peak Wilderness Area. The Bighorn National Forest offers a wide variety of activities, including hiking, fishing, scenic driving and a number of historic sites. The administering organization is Gallatin Canyon Campgrounds; e-mail: gccampgrounds13@gmail.com
Recreation
Meadowlark Lake covers 325 acres and is open to boating at a wake-less speed, making it a perfect location for canoeing and fishing. Anglers will find rainbow, cutthroat, brown and brook trout in the cool waters of the lake. Off-road vehicle trails, scenic jeep roads, hiking and additional fishing streams are available in the surrounding area. Diverse hikes vary from loop trails to treks along creeks and over mountain peaks; many trails access the Cloud Peak Wilderness.
Facilities
The campground offers single-family sites each equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring with grill. Accessible vault toilets, drinking water and trash collection are provided. The nearest dump station is 12 miles away on Powder River Pass.
Natural Features
The campground overlooks scenic Meadowlark Lake, which can be viewed from several sites. A forest of lodgepole pine and Douglas fir trees covers the campground. Many additional lakes and streams are found in the surrounding area.
Nearby Attractions
The High Park Lookout is located just east of Meadowlark Lake. This old fire lookout was built by the CCC decades ago and is no longer active. A short hike leads to the lookout, where hikers are awarded panoramic views of the surrounding area. West Tensleep Lake is about 10 miles north of Meadowlark Lake and is open to non-motorized craft only. The popular West Tensleep Lake Trail begins here and leads into the Cloud Peak Wilderness. Deer Haven Lodge and Meadowlark Lodge are nearby, offering dining options, lodging, guided horseback riding and fishing and camping supplies.

Great lakeside campground
We enjoyed our two night stay in the tent only section of the campground. Sites were well spaced that provided a tent pad, picnic table, and fire pit. All were walk-in. Water available. Pit toliet. Helpful camp host.

Campground is covered with pine for nicely shaded sites. Gravel and not exactly level. Most are not conducive for solar.
Lake View lives up to it’s name. We had a beautiful view of the small lake and the mountains behind. Access to the lake is by walking a distance or going out to the highway and driving a short distance to the boat ramp which is about 1/10 of a mile. The boat ramp is also a day use fee area with a pit toilet.

Cool spot
Site 10 (double site) is the one to get! Has the best view of the lake and very spacious.
Gorgeous Site
Super level site with view of the lake! Huge sites with some incredible fishing to be had. Cleaning stations at each site and fairly quiet scene.

Lakeviews do not disappoint
We really enjoyed our three nights here. The views of the lake were amazing. The CCC did a remarkable job here. I want to come back in the winter.
The camp host, Sally, did a great job keeping the garbage emptied and restroom/outhouses clean.
You are close to Highway 16 and the turning loop will not accommodate large pull behinds or RV’s.
Beautiful Lakeside Campground
Beautiful Spot. We stayed one night in the RV loop (with a car and tent) and it was quiet and spacious and the vault toilet was clean. Many of the sites had a view of the lake. Then after a few days backpacking we returned to the tent only loop and it was a bit more cramp and not a lot of privacy, but overall a nice Forest campground in a beautiful spot! The lake offered a bit of breeze and kept the bugs down compared to some of the bugs in other area campgrounds.
Absolutely beautiful
Camped here in July, our site had a path down to Meadowlark Lake. The trail and entire campground was surrounded by lupine and countless other wildflowers in bloom. The site was one of the cleanest I’ve ever stayed in. The bathrooms were pristine as well. Highly recommend.
Excellent site overlooking lake!
Beautiful site, #8 or #9 have great views especially at sunset. Moose frequent these spots and the campsite hosts are so friendly and helpful! One of the best hidden gem campsites.
Lake view
Always good fishing and camping. Bring your bug spray though
Beautiful Spot
We stayed here for just a night. Our spot was in the lower loop, as we were just tent camping. The campsite overall is wonderfully kept; tables are newly painted, the area is very clean, and each site is maintained well. Our site was also right next to the lake, which was beautiful. We saw many people fishing on the lake. There are very few trees between sites however, so there isn’t very much privacy.
