Overview
Sitting Bull Campground is located 51 miles east of Worland, Wyoming on the west side of scenic Cloud Peak Skyway, near the Cloud Peak Wilderness Area. The Bighorn National Forest offers a wide variety of activities, including hiking, fishing, scenic driving and a number of historic sites. The administering organization is Gallatin Canyon Campgrounds; e-mail: gccampgrounds13@gmail.com
Recreation
Nearby Meadowlark Lake covers 325 acres and is open to boating at a wake-less speed, making it a perfect location for canoeing and fishing. Anglers will find rainbow, cutthroat, brown and brook trout in the cool waters of the lake. Off-road vehicle trails, scenic jeep roads, hiking and additional fishing streams are available in the surrounding area. Diverse hikes vary from loop trails to treks along creeks and over mountain peaks; many trails access the Cloud Peak Wilderness.
Facilities
The campground offers several single-family sites each equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring with grill. Site 006 meets established accessibility standards. Accessible vault toilets, drinking water and trash collection are also provided.
Natural Features
Sitting Bull is situated on the edge of a forest of lodgepole pine, adjacent to a beautiful mountain meadow, a prime location for wildlife viewing. Most sites afford expansive views of the surrounding Bighorn Mountains.
Nearby Attractions
The High Park Lookout is located just east of Meadowlark Lake. This old fire lookout was built by the CCC decades ago and is no longer active. A short hike leads to the lookout, where hikers are awarded panoramic views of the surrounding area. West Tensleep Lake is about 10 miles north of the campground and is open to non-motorized craft only. The popular West Tensleep Lake Trail begins here and leads into the Cloud Peak Wilderness. Deer Haven Lodge and Meadowlark Lodge are nearby, offering dining options, lodging, guided horseback riding and fishing and camping supplies.

Favorite campground!
Favorite campground! We stayed here at site 27B for just one night in August 2020 bit wish we had stayed many more nights. The campsites are in a beautiful pine forest on the edge of a prairie/meadow that has a creek running through it. Absolutely magical place, and the light in the morning and evening is spectacular. Although we didn’t have time to hike more than some short hikes and walks in the prairie, we saw trails leading from the campground(right behind our site) and other campers said the hiking and rock climbing are fabulous. We must come back!!!
Absolutely amazing!
We came upon this site just by chance and I’m so glad we found it!! It was after season so that means no water and no bathrooms, but that’s ok, we had our own water and our own shovel and TP! It was mostly hunters (less than 10) and the nicest couple in the world from MN. The site was extremely spacious and comfortable! It did get quite frigid but we survived, and had an incredible experience listening to the wolves go crazy a couple times! We will certainly be back!
One night stay
Seemed to be geared towards people with RVs but my partner, our dogs and I had a lovely time. The camp was clean and not too loud. Seemed to have a decent amount of space between sites. Every spot was take. Not sure if it’s always that busy or if it was just Labor Day weekend popularity. We woke up to find a moose! They also have firewood for sale. They have a fire pit which had a grate to grill over as well as a grill. The stars on our walk around the grounds were insane

Nice views of the Bighorn mountains
On Highway 16 across from the lake. There are great views of the mountains with nice wooded sites. The vault toilets were really clean and there was some bit of privacy between sites. Each site had the usual picnic table and fire pit (no bear boxes). In the evening there was a lot of wildlife in the meadow to watch, so try and get a site on the outside of the loop so you can watch. Because it was early in the season (the campground had only been open for a week when I arrived), they were not collecting fees yet (I double checked with the campground host). North Cove was across the street from the entrance and was very popular with fishermen and boaters.

Absolutely Beautiful
Camp here all the time, love it! Great walking trails, close to Meadowlark Lake, great fishing, awesome hosts, tons of ATV trails.
Great summer camping!
We camp at Sitting Bull when we're rock climbing in Ten Sleep Canyon. The sites are all nice and large, under big pines. The campsites along the meadow are an amazing place to watch wildlife. We always see mule deer and elk and this last time we saw several moose!
