What a find and what a price! Since we didn’t have reservations to backpack the Paria Canyon Trail, we wanted to find a spot where we could camp near the trail and do a long day trip. This campground is perfectly situated at the trailhead, and you can obtain day permits right at the campground. 

Sites are small, so rigs bigger than our Hamlet (12ft) will struggle to get parked and turned around in this campground. It’s perfect for vans, small travel trailers, and of course, tents. There’s no privacy between the sites, but there is plenty of space at each site for a small group. 

No electrical hookups, but there is all the solar you could want…so bring those panels. No water at the campground, but you can stock up at the Visitor Center, just 2 miles away and just off the highway where you enter for this campground. Bathrooms were immaculate, incredible views all around, and people very friendly. 

In addition to the drop dead gorgeous Paria Canyon Trail, check out the other trails nearby in the Escalante area. The roads are rough and parking is tight, so wouldn’t recommend trailers or vehicles without 4 wheel drive in some areas. 

Closest town is Kanab, UT which is about an hour away, so stock up on groceries and such before coming out.
