Great views of the Bridge & Straits
We stayed for one Monday night on our way to the Porkies.
This is an established campground. The sites are tight, most have no bushes/trees. We were lucky on our right side to have some privacy. The perimeter sites back into a chain link fence that has a view of the woods. This is on both sides of the campground.
The bathrooms/showers were clean. The showers had 2 large lips to step over. My mobility challenged husband had some trouble.
The best sites are 26,27,28,76&77. These sites are right by the beach & have great views. 27 looked like it didn't have electricity & might be a tent site. Strangely, 26 & 27 were empty the night we were there.
The beach is small & you can swim there. There's no pool. There's several swings & benches to sit & look at the water. There's a game room by the store.
I did like this campground. It reminded me of what camping must have been like in the 50s/60s. A retro feel to it.

For a second I thought I was going to have to defend myself
After 6 hours drive we were super giddy and excited to camp in mackinaw and stargaze and it all changed as soon as we got into this place. From being all smiles to night ruined and feeling down. Here’s what happened, we pulled into the entrance and drove past the check in office. Never being at this location I decided to look at our site and that was a huge mistake. I assume the owner of the property pulled up in the gator and cut off my vehicle. Jumped out and immediately started berating me over passing the office and going passed the 5mph speed limit. I immediately apologized and said I’d come back to the office but that did not satisfy his appetite for confrontation. He continued to yell that I need to“stop at the damn office” and if I“know how to read”. After he drove off the family all shocked agreed we were no longer comfortable staying there. We proceeded to drive up to the office and tell him we were no longer interested in staying at the site. He asked why I had a chance of heart I told him the way he talked to us was not ok and then he began to yell over me and told me that MAYBE he’ll refund me one day worth of deposit. I then asked for a receipt showing that I requested the cancellation. That set him off he started going on a tirade that I don’t belong there anyway and that he didn’t want me there from the moment he seen me. I asked him to stop acting like a child and to learn to run a business at that point he got out of his seat and rushed me like he wanted to fight. He told me I’d better leave or he will call the police. At that point I walked away and he followed me out the door and said I’ll find it where you’re staying tonight and took pictures of our vehicle. I hate to say this but I have a weird feeling he doesn’t like me because I was Hispanic. His response was so unprovoked and disproportionate to the situation AND I strongly caution anyone that wants to come here to think again. Btw the camp site itself was not what I expected we ended up staying at mill creek and the people and staff there where phenomenal with a huge selection of camping much cleaner and more space in between camp spots…..DO YOUR FAMILY A SERVICE AND GO TO MILL CREEK AVOID TEE PEE. Will upload the video of the confrontation on YouTube and tik tok thanks for reading
Something for everyone
The sites are decently sized and come equipped with a fire pit. The showers had decent shower heads and lots of pressure. There are some swings dow by the lake for adults and kids. Everything is nearby (not really walkable) and the shuttle for Mackinac Island ferries will come pick you up. They do not have full hookups, but we got by fine for a week since we have a composting toilet.
There is a small play scape feature by the lake. Plenty of folks tent camping as well as RVs. The campground has been here for quite a while and has mature trees. A small game room at the office features a pool table, air hockey, and a modern pinball machine.
Helpful, Friendly & Clean
Nice sites, water spigot & electric are at the back of the site-we needed all 50 feet of our water hose. Discount tickets to the Mac Island ferry with shuttle pickup/drop off.
Nice location, tight spots
This is a great location to camp if you are looking for proximity to Mackinac Island. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They have electric and water but no sewer. There is a dump on the way out. The spots are very tight to navigate into and took some extra work for my fifth wheel. Tent camping or smaller campers would enjoy this site. The town nearby is cool, includes a nice bakery and a great RV/hardware store. Wifi is hit and miss. You can walk up to the water to get a nice view of the bridge.
Camping
Three years in a row I have camped here the first of May. Will continue the tradition for may year. Great friendly manager.
Fun and Unique Bridge View Campground
Stayed here for one night before heading to Mackinaw Island the next day. It was fun, cute, and had a great beach. The facilities were a bit dated, but that added to the character. Lots of friendly people camping there! Very social!

Very Nice Basic Campground
We stayed here for one night on our way to the UP. It’s very basic. They have a nice beach with a beautiful view of the Mackinac Bridge. We walked to the beach and had cocktails sitting on a large swing. Bathrooms are okay. Campsite was quiet. I highly recommend this place for a nice, affordable stay in this area.
Close to Mackinaw
Closest campground to Mackinaw city. Small campground but right on Lake Huron. The campsites are close to each other so I would recommend one of the outer campsites that backs up to the woods.
Great family owned campground with excellent view of the Mackinac Bridge.
Nice family owned campground on Lake Huron. Very nice view of the Mackinac Bridge, very clean bathrooms and showers, perfect for families. Conveniently located to Mackinaw City and the shuttle boats to Mackinac Island.
Nice camper ground.
This was a nice campground. Lots were of decent size. The beach front has a good view of the bridge. We realized we forgot pillows (of all things) and a few other essentials and were able to make a 20-30 minute drive to Cheboygan to Walmart (I know I know the root of most things evil). On day 2 we were able to drive across the Mighty Mack to the Soo Locks and back without feeling rushed to make the 12:30 boat tour of the locks since it was only about an hour drive from here.
Great Location
I have gone to this campground several times and really enjoy it. Small campground with grass/sand sites, the campground is right on the water with a great view of the bridge. Very friendly hosts! The shuttle for the island ferry picks you up right at the campground.
Great views.
Close to downtown Mackinaw City.
Nice campground
This campground is in a great location to enjoy Mackinac. It’s sites are a little on the smaller side but the campground has a very nice beach on the lake and the bath and shower houses were very nice and well maintained. What made this a 5 star for me was the staff and the customer service. These people truly have a passion for what they do and it shows!
Wonderful
Great beach with a view of the Mackinaw bridge!
