Beautiful Setting
Check in was simple and very helpful for last min reservation! We have Sprinter Van so we’re able to take the last dry camping spot and it was great! Level grass area next to horses it was so peaceful!!
Gorge!
Friendly folks and clean well kept grounds. It was too cold to use most of the amenities during our stay but they looked awesome.
The washing machine gave us a little trouble but worked in the end.
Loved our tree covered RV spot behind the office and the trail ride we went on with Brooke.
We did book a private ride for a little more money and realized upon arrival that it probably would have just been us if we booked the group ride 😸

Yippee Ki-Yay Southern Comfort Camping Pasture
If you find yourself in or near arguably the best little city in the entire South (that would be Savannah, GA y’all) and are in need of a spot to park your over-sized mobile living room for the night (or for many) and cringe at the thought of trying to park your way into a narrow slot overwhelmed on every side by the unsightly scenes or ghastly noise from the very metropolis you are seeking to escape, then look no further than Red Gate Campground. This country chic spot is nothing short of a nice slice of southern country charm in an otherwise overcrowded, busy urban environ.
From the moment you turn off the turnpike and enter Red Gate Campground, almost instantaneously you will feel ‘good‘ ol Southern charm’ just oozing from this place along with a sense of peacefulness and ‘restitude’ that is a difficult thing to find anywhere, least of all, near a fairly roaring metropolis like Savannah. Yet from here, once you’ve landed your pitch for the night, you’ll instantly embrace a sense of being placed in the outback, where the non-stop hum of nearby passing traffic is calmed and the vistas of red-painted barns, straw stacked bales of hay and a sauntering nearby pond remind you that indeed, nature doesn’t just live here, it flourishes.
Activities: hiking, horseback riding, bicycling, fishing, horse shoes, board games, bird watching and stargazing. Amenities: pull-through or back-in RV sites with full hook-ups (30 / 50 amp electrical, water and sewage), picnic tables, fire ring w/ fold-over grill, standing BBQ grill, trash & recycling bins, remote dump station, propane refueling station, playground, horseshoe pit, board games, book exchange library, shaded lakeside swings and benches, nearby fishing pond, covered salt water swimming pool, equestrian center complete with horse-drawn carriage rides, bike rentals, shaded community grill area, washing sink, water spigot, complimentary WiFi, satellite access, 24 hour service office w/ coin-operated laundry facility, shower/ restrooms and fitness center, supply store (basic groceries, sundries, firewood, ice, etc.) along with flat white coral rock pads to park your RV on.
Insider’s tips? Here’s a few: (1) If you’d like to explore the amazing coastline in and around Savannah, check out little Tybee Island, which is a gem destination of Georgia’s barrier islands and is only a 30 minute drive from Red Gate Campground; (2) There are active train tracks nearby Red Gate, so if the occasional noise from locomotives bother you, consider bringing some earplugs – as I’m from Chicago, I really didn’t mind or even notice the noise; (3) When you get tired of thinking about planning and preparing for that next meal, you’re in great luck because you have so many nearby options of either traditional comfort food chain restaurants (think Chili’s, Zaxby’s, Bonefish Grill), authentic Southern joints like Sweet Potatoes Kitchen, Barnes Restaurant, Betty Bombers or Southern-inspired haute cuisine legends like Cotton & Rye, Grey and Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room; and (4) One of our most favorite places to visit in all of Savannah is Forsyth Park, which is centrally located in the city and provides for a great green spot to spread out a picnic blanket, take in the sun and cloud-gaze underneath the canopy of Ancient Oaks just dripping with Spanish Moss.
Happy Camping!

What a great place and close to Savannah
I used to live in Savannah and never knew this place was here! What a beautiful farm, lakes, and RV park. There are even horses and goats to see! The sites are all powered and have city water and each site also has sewer hookup. The sites are close but not unreasonably close together. Their office staff are some of the most wonderful people I've met on the road. The office store has basic necessities for any RV'er and camper. I have been really impressed. To top it all off, 3 nights cost me what 1 night would be at a cheap hotel in Savannah. I would very much recommend this campground to my RV'ing friends.
MY ONLY complaint had nothing to do with the site or the facilities. Our neighbors had a dog and 3 grandkids that ran through our site often. This is a family friendly park. I appreciate that very much. I just wish some people were more respectful of others.
An absolutely lovely park
The RV sites are basic FHU on grass, but the farm is stunning! Hands down the loveliest location with great amenities.

Lovely area, very friendly staff!
The sites themselves are fairly basic, but it's a good deal for full hookups, and the park area is all very nice. Staff are some of the nicest and friendliest people we've ever met working an RV park! Would absolutely stay here again
Close to Savannah - Awesome Park
We loved our stay here! The sites are spacious and site 19 has extra space because it’s on the end.
The campground is quiet and everything is well taken care of. We enjoyed visiting the horses and goats. The trails around the lakes were our dogs favorite thing. ( ALL the sniffs!)
The staff in the office was very nice and was able to accommodate our early check in. They are very knowledgeable about tourist stops.
We did laundry once. They have two washers and two dryers. Both newish and worked great.
We visited in our 33’ travel trailer in January. Verizon service is great - we worked from our hotspot the whole trip.

Lovely, Easy Access Camp Ground
Pretty campground, well maintained, with lots of open space! Very easy access for any size rig. We were very comfortable as newbies in our 28ft class C. Some of the sites are very close together. Our neighbor camper checked in late which was loud with a 5mo old who was trying to go to sleep. Bathrooms/showers are clean, but it’s in the club house and there are only two. Was not an issue, but something to consider. Over all would definitely visit again.
Quiet, lovely farm
Awesome Farm And Campground
We absolutely love this quiet, quant campground, that doubles as a farm and beautiful wedding venue. Sites are crush and grass, but very nice. Not many sites and wide open. No trouble getting in or out. Lady at office was super friendly and helpful. Less than 10 minutes from downtown Savannah, with trolley tours that pick you up from campground. Wifi is best we've had at campsite too! Highly recommend this place.

Beautiful Location
We enjoyed walking around the grounds and the staff was friendly throughout our visit. They have multiple locations set up with swinging chairs to take in the views. Visiting with the horses, goats, and peacocks during our walks. Plus there are plentiful water birds to admire.

Hidden Gem
This little known gem is a great stop over. It offers horseback riding, a great salt water pool and all site have white gravel pads.
We use the smallest, 20’, for our teardrop with water and power. All the other sites can accommodate full side RVs It is just off the highway, RT16. It is an ideally location. You are only a few minutes from down town Savannah and just over the hill from gas and shopping center.
The help are very nice and to let you know how they operate, ICE is on the honor system. Ice is available 24/7, all they ask is you pay for what bags you take.

First time here and absolutely love it
Today I was traveling from Atlanta to Savannah and well I had another reservation at 1000 trails just about an hour north of here in South Carolina, I decided I wasn’t interested in going that far today so I started looking at some options in the Savannah area. I came across Red gate farms and I called to see if they had availability this evening for a pull through site given I am 60 feet in total length including clase and car trailer. The gal I spoke to on the phone and made a reservation with was so extremely friendly and very accommodating, so I decided to actually spend two nights and can’t tell you how spacious and lovely the grounds are. Can’t wait till daylight tomorrow so I can walk around and see more of this extraordinary and very nice park.
Beautiful grounds
Quiet, beautiful campground with horses, goats, and multiple fishing ponds. Savannah is a short drive away. If you're interested in a historical tour of Savannah a trolley picks you up right at the campground.

Peace and tranquillity in the city
Red gate is a hidden gem. This is a beautiful farm of 200 acres situated 5 minutes from downtown Savannah. Everything you could ask for: pool, ponds, horseback riding, goats, beautiful landscaping, room to roam or play. We had a fabulous time hanging out here and will definitely return. Call if there are no reservations online, they have some dry camping available- totally worth it!

Quiet and convenient
Very nice farm! Beautiful grounds with ponds and animals (horses and goats). Great location. We took a trolley tour of Savannah. They picked us up and dropped us off at the farm (about 10 minute ride to Savannah). Next visit we plan to do the horseback rides.
Beautiful
Beautiful property. I would recommend. I would come back.
The best time 😊
We visited in May 2020. We enjoyed it so much, we returned 3 weeks later. It is like visiting a well kept farm. Loved the horses, goats, lakes and pool. Leslie was very helpful. She remembered to offer me my favorite site when it opened up! Thank you 💜
call, even if web says full
open easy sites, most are back in. friendly people. pet friendly, but campground cats roaming so watch your dog. horses and goats in farm area, plenty of room for a nice leg stretch for the dogs. close to town and nice trolley will pick you up at campground
I enjoyed every min
Great place to relax, very clean and a lot to do in around the site.
So picturesque...it's like camping on someone's farm
This is our "go to" campground near Savannah. We sleep here while we explore Savannah and surrounding areas, but it's also a beautiful campground if you want to spend some time here. If you camp in an area other than the large field out front, it's like camping on someone's horse farm. Just recently, we camped in the dry camping area for tents and small units because that's all that was available. It's out in front of the office and just across from the paddock. We've also camped to the left and right of the office where you can hook up to electricity and water.
Sites
- See map. Sites 13 through 17 are full hookup sites out front among sites 1-21 and look like the best ones to me. All of these sites are appropriate for large RVs (think Class A) with long gravel pads.
- See B1-B3 on the map. These are good for trailers plus a vehicle, you won't have a lot of neighbors, and there's a bit of a water view with no one in front of you.
- There are 2 sites in an area called C out by a pond.
- Dry camping areas do not show up online. There's a loop out in front of the office for tents and small units (like our teardrop). Larger units can camp over by the volleyball court.
- Sites to the left and right of the office are good for trailers, but I don't think they're online either.
- Call if you don't see availability online. I've never seen a tent here, but that area in front of the office is good for a tent. We've camped twice in our teardrop in this area, and there was just one truck camper the first time.
Why camp here?
- Beautiful setting
- It's about 10 minutes to downtown Savannah.
- Maybe you have an event to attend at Red Gate Farms. The Mackey House (see photos) is one of Savannah's best wedding sites. We attended a wedding in the spring at this beautiful venue, and it was great staying less than a mile away. (Yes, getting all dressed up at a campground was a bit weird, but the private bathrooms worked for us.) There are two other event venues closer to the campground.
- If you want to venture beyond Savannah, Fort Pulaski is about 30 minutes away and Tybee Island is another 10 minutes. Skidaway Island State Park is on the way to the fort, and there's a campground on Tybee Island. We prefer to camp closer to the restaurants and craft breweries in Savannah.
Amenities
- Wifi
- Pool
- Washers, dryers, small exercise room and two private bathrooms in the office building which is always open. There's also a TV and kitchen sink.
- You can catch a trolley to downtown Savannah.
- Trail rides are available.

Closest RV Park to Historical Savannah
Very nice staff. Club house was like being in your own home. Sites were easy to maneuver the RV in.
