Great place to chill
Great place to relax and enjoy a beautiful campground. Heated pool, jacuzzi, bike rentals, and more. They loan you fire pits if you don’t have one. And deliver wood to your site. There is even a cafe if you don’t feel like firing up the grill.
It’s all here
Great place if you’re in the San Diego area. Every amenity, wonderful customer service, and close to all the sites that most people enjoy visiting out this way.
Not impressed
We booked based on the description that our site had “more grass” than other sites (chose that since we have a dog) but found a very small area of grass about 2 feet wide. Our site had a lot of dirt along the paved driveway that we had to constantly walk through. Our grill had been moved to the end of the driveway and was full of trash (that nobody removed during our 4 days here). No fire pit. A large depressed area at the end of our pad (& next to that small patch of grass) had standing water in it for a day after it rained. We booked expecting to find a restaurant with a bar. It wasn’t open over the 4 days we were here. I agree with the other reviews that it was close to area attractions. However, the area around the campground doesn’t leave one feeling particularly safe. There were absolutely no activities going on here during our stay. All staff we encountered were very friendly. Bathrooms fairly clean, cold as the ceilings are high and no doors entering so very “open”. Some soap dispensers were empty. Showers are individual. Way too expensive for what we got.
Clean and Posh
Fanciest KOA out there. Plenty of sites. Plenty of place and more amenities than you can use !
Wonderfull to found your camp
Absolutely, looks a great place
San Diego KOA is A Ok
The campground is very clean, well organized, and has daily events scheduled for the kids. There is a fence surrounding the site, so I am very comfortable letting my kids roam free on their bikes.
Perfect for families with kids
Clean, quiet and just lovely.
Great family experience!
Exactly as advertised. The KOA provides an excellent family experience especially during October. You can participate in the Fall Festival activities while enjoying a hot meal from the Sand Castle Cafe. The amazing staff there goes out of their way to make sure you and your family are well taken care of.
Relaxing stay
It was easy checkin, and easy set up. Cool breeze, and tall trees. Clean flat sights. Fun for kids an family with lots to do. Great pool, restrooms, and more. I'll stay here again.
Good for families, but not the best part of San Diego
Nice family resort with lots of amenities, shady campsites with trees, and a nice pool. This particular area of San Diego isn't my favorite, but it does the trick as a base for touring the area. It's about 20 minutes from Sea World, 15 minutes to Balboa Park and San Diego Zoo, and 20 minutes to Coronado. While you're here, don't miss a stop at Tacos El Gordo, easily one of the best, most authentic taco joints in the area!

Absolutely the best campground for the family!
This is hands down the best campground around. The facility is spotless, extremely clean, environment is awesome where everyone is friendly and they put so much effort into making it fun for the kids with activities at the kids club, bike and trike rentals, a super modern pool and awesome gift shop on top of huge jumping pillows, playgrounds and a giant backyard. It’s our favorite camping spot and everywhere we go is unmatched to here. The kids usually ride around the site and you’re in the middle of San Diego so you can go to the beach, Legoland, Sea World go out to eat or door dash some food! Definitely convenient to everything and the best way to glamp!
Very clean and fancy
The campground is essentially a resort for families: pool, activities, bikes, etc. We were the only people there without kids. All facilities are very clean and plentiful. The best part was all the trees that gave us much needed shade throughout the day.
too buisy, not worth the price
We payed 88 $ for a tiny spot, more like a parking space than a campground. Loud and buisy.
AWESOME !!
This place is AWESOME!! Very clean and quiet. It was about 20 minutes from two beaches where we could take our dog. Great place for families and lots of options other than RV’s or trailers. We are going back in two weeks! Internet and Cable worked great.

Nice KOA with an amazing resort-style pool!
This is one of our favorite KOAs! The sites are good, grassy in most places, and lots of trees. The best part though is the new resort-style pool with two hot tubs, rentable cabanas, huge fire pit, clean restrooms, and a cafe with local craft beer and good food.
Incredibly busy
This place is extremely busy with lots of people, loud music, narrow spots, old hookups. Good for kids, not for couples.
It was well kept, aside from the ants 🐜
This campground was pretty awesome.
Pros
+ The amenities were nice, though many were closed due to covid.
+ The gate makes it feel more safe as it's right next to a path by a river, which seemed sketchy at times.
+ During the week it felt spacious.
+ We worked remotely from here and picked up a good signal.
Cons
- ants for all over and inside our van from our campsite.
- It's in a not so great area.
Good
Very good
Great KOA!
We visit this place once a year in the summer, sometimes twice. This place is glamping for sure. They have full service hookups for rv’s and trailers, bungalows and cabins. Lots of amenities for the kiddos when COVID isn’t around. The new pool is great.
Family Playground
San Diego KOA is an oasis campground. There's a pool, sauna, basketball court, and jumping sand pit for the families to enjoy. They have a variety of spaces to park your RV or Van. Some spaces are basic back-in while others have their own patio and grill. The restrooms and showers are clean and the staff is friendly. There's also an onsite store and cafe that serves good food.
Cell Service: Good WiFi: Yes
This is an enjoyable campground for anyone seeking a place to stay in SD.

Updated and safe
Possibly one of the safest campgrounds I’ve been too. Even though we were just staying for one night it was great. Nice store. Upgraded pool area. Laundry facilities. Activities for kids. Walking distance to stores if something is needed.
Great renovation
This is one of the nicest kOA campgrounds we have visited. They recently redid the pool area and it’s like a resort! Only drawback is that the campground is about a 15 minute drive from the beach. It’s a great place to stay to explore San Diego!

Comfy and cozy, Tons of Amenities!
This campground is a great place for families who want to try out camping and haven’t done much of that. They have a small restaurant, awesome new swimming facility, Bike rentals and so much more! We stayed here just for fun once and also while attending San Diego comic con. It is very close to the Metrolink train that takes you to the convention center.
A true oasis
This is plopped right in the middle of a busy suburban area but you could never tell once you’re inside! It feels like you’re miles and miles away from anything!
Nice campground but has its flaws
Very nice campground and very kid friendly. It is also very busy and we found to be quite loud at night. They have a big pool and two hot tubs but both hot tubs were full of kids and there were adults drinking beer while wading in the pool. I am not very impressed with this koa overall but it has great potential.
Great place for the first time camping in SD
Well maintained! First time camping in SD!
Tent camping
Friendly staff, clean restrooms, a little close to the freeway but had a great time.
Short, Fun Stay
We had a great visit at the San Diego KOA. The staff was very friendly overall and the facilities were clean. This location has the most amenities we've encountered at a campsite. It even has electric tent hookups for the technology inclined! Fun stay!
