Boulder Park Campground

Moose wander through this 32-site Forest Service campground where Tensleep Creek flows along the back edge of several sites. Boulder Park sits within the Bighorn National Forest at $18 per night, operating from late May through mid-September with reservations available through Recreation.gov.

The campground accommodates RVs up to 60 feet on gravel roads and sites, though campers note the access road can be rough. Sites vary from shaded spots under tall trees to more open areas scattered with small boulders. Annie C. found "sites are pretty, and private-ish with lots of trees (some good for hammocking, some not)." Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, lantern pole, and prep table for cooking. The campground host maintains exceptionally clean vault toilets and sells firewood from a golf cart during evening rounds.

Tensleep Creek provides fishing opportunities, while Meadow Lark Lake sits a short distance away. The town of Ten Sleep lies 13 miles southwest for supplies and features a local brewery. Nearby options include Willow Park and Bull Creek campgrounds. Sites away from the main road offer more privacy, and the campground typically runs at two-thirds capacity during peak summer months. This works well for families seeking creek access and RV travelers needing full hookups aren't available here.

Fee Info

Two non-towed vehicles allowed per site. The first vehicle is included in the basic fee; the second vehicle will be charged an extra $10.00/day fee at the campground. Firewood bundles can be purchased from the campground host.

Beautiful High

Fee:  $19.00

Open June close Sep

Limit 14 days

Reserve: 877-444-6777 or recreation.gov

Sites: 32 single sites

Host on site picnic table fire ring lantern pole water trash

Some sites are close together with some more private, some are shady and some no shade at all. There small boulders scattered around the site and with the beginnings of the fall colors beginning to turn beautiful. There is a small creek that runs along the back side of some of the sites.

The road and sites are covered with gravel. Drive slow to keep the dust down.

This is a very peaceful site and great to enjoy all the Bighorn has to offer. You will find off road trails, scenic jeep roads and hiking trails. Meadow Lark Lake is a short distance from the campground. The nearest dump station is 15 miles at Powder River Pass.  Watch for the majestic moose wandering around the campground.

Quiet and Clean

This is a well maintained campground tucked away in the Bighorns. Our experience was very pleasant, quiet, and slept next to the rushing waters of the creek. Seen three moose while we were here!

Clean, Quiet and Convenient

Stayed here for 3 nights in July of 2019. Convenient location for the hikes we were doing and not too far from the west or east entrance to the park. Arguably the cleanest vault toilet I have ever seen. The campground host took pride in maintaining the place. Went in Mid-July, the campground was probably at 2/3rds capacity and we didn't have any neighbors on either side which was very nice. Warm during the day and cool at nights.

10-sleep is just a short drive away for gas and food and most importantly a spectacularly Wyoming brewery.

Family friendly camping

For $17 a night, try and get a site right on Tensleep Creek. Sites are pretty, and private-ish with lots of trees (some good for hammocking, some not). Everything was really well maintained to the point of everything looking new. All the usual amenities of picnic tables and fire pits and grills, PLUS there are pretty awesome prep tables for cooking and a lantern pole at each site, with super clean vault toilets where the camphosts have set pots of flowers to improve the setting. I suggest getting a site on the backside of the loop away from the road. The campground hosts were great, checking on campers a couple of times in the early evening and again in the morning. They rolled around in their golf cart stocked with firewood for sale so you didn’t have to hike back to the top of the hill to get your wood. There are some great family activities areas in the campground with horseshoes, cornhole, and other games set up in a central activities area.
