Sinks Canyon Campground operates as a walk-in facility within Shoshone National Forest, charging $10 per night with reservations available through the Forest Service. The campground sits along the Popo Agie River, requiring campers to carry gear from parking areas to individual sites since no RVs are permitted.
Sites back directly against the rushing river, with several reviewers noting the constant sound of water flowing past their campsites. Sarah N. found the facilities "super clean, very well maintained" during multiple visits. The campground includes both traditional tent sites and five yurts that sleep between six and twelve people, equipped with electricity, heating, and basic furniture. Vault toilets serve the area, and potable water comes from hand pumps stationed throughout the grounds.
Fishing access along the Popo Agie River draws many visitors, though reviewers describe it as challenging. Multiple hiking trails begin directly from the campground, leading into the surrounding forest and up canyon walls. The nearby visitor center provides trail maps and information about the geological features that give Sinks Canyon its name. Winter camping remains possible, particularly in the heated yurts, with the park service maintaining access roads during snow season.
Road access requires navigation of canyon routes that some reviewers found rough for larger vehicles. Sites vary significantly in levelness, with paved spots presenting challenges for RV leveling systems. The campground sits close enough to Lander for supply runs, roughly fifteen minutes by vehicle. No pets are permitted anywhere in the facility.
Campers seeking different accommodations can explore nearby Popo Agie Campground or Sinks Campground within the same canyon system.
