Summersville Lake Shelters

Army Corps of Engineers manages this shelter-based campground on Summersville Lake, with rates ranging from $40-70 per night. The facility prohibits pets and provides drive-in access to forested sites near both the lake and river. Water activities dominate the recreation options here, with fishing and swimming available directly from the campground area. Campers can explore additional options at nearby Battle Run, located less than a mile west. The lake's water levels fluctuate based on dam operations, creating varying conditions for water-based activities throughout the season.

Love summersville lake!

Tons of deep water soloing routes on the lake, pontoon boats, kayaking, giant air mattress floaters, etc. rock climbing when they shut the dams since the water level is so low. Legend has it there is a old town under the lake that people will scuba dive to. I love climbing the rocks, hiking, and hanging out. There is a rock across the street from the freeways parking. Pussy rock is what they call it. You can camp over there but I do not recommend it. I got a fire fee after boat squad shut me and my friends down. And that was them being nice.
