Yakima River Canyon Campgrounds (Umtanum, Lmuma Creek, Big Pines, Roza) — Yakima River Canyon

Four separate campgrounds along the Yakima River Canyon provide basic camping with water hookups at $15 per night. Managed by Washington State Department of Fish & Wildlife, these sites sit within open terrain near both Lmuma Creek and the Yakima River, though campers should expect rough access roads leading to the camping areas.

The campgrounds offer picnic tables and allow campfires and pets, with both drive-in and walk-in sites available. Train tracks run close to the camping areas, creating periodic noise as trains pass, though they don't sound horns through this section. Anglers find excellent fly fishing opportunities along the river. Reservations are available for these state wildlife area campgrounds, which work well for fishing-focused trips and campers comfortable with basic facilities and train noise.

Quiet and Peaceful next to river

Overall a nice experience. $7.50/night with Access Pass. Dry camping only but close to Yakima. A fly fishing paradise.

There are train tracks close by which can be a bit noisy. However, trains don’t blow horn when passing by.
