Accessible year-round via Highway 2, Thousand Trails Thunderbird accommodates RVs up to 45 feet with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections. The campground operates as a membership-based facility with limited sites available for non-members, requiring reservations for guaranteed access.
Sites split between two distinct areas: riverside spots without sewer hookups and full-hookup sites across the road from the water. The riverside location provides direct river access for fishing, with staff sharing information about local fishing spots with arriving campers. A train runs through the area at various times throughout the day, and the nearby road carries traffic at speeds above the posted 35 mph limit.
The facility includes amenities like pools, hot tub, mini golf, and a playground, though maintenance standards vary according to recent visitors. "Pool wasn't cleaned so it was swim at ur own risk," reports johnathan B.. WiFi requires additional fees except in the lounge area, and cell service works adequately for hotspot use. The campground hosts both short-term visitors and semi-permanent residents.
Tent sites sit close to the road with most on sloped ground rather than level terrain. For additional camping choices, explore campgrounds near Sultan. Plan for potential odors from adjacent agricultural operations.
