Accessible via the Five Mile Pass exit off Highway 73, this free BLM campground spreads across open desert terrain with dozens of flat camping spots. The area accommodates everything from tents to large RVs on sandy but stable ground, with scattered pit toilets throughout the expansive site.
Off-highway vehicle enthusiasts flock here for extensive trail networks that wind through the surrounding desert. Scott C. notes the trails are "AWESOME" for side-by-sides, though he warns "there are no trees and it gets VERY hot in the daytime." ATV and dirt bike activity peaks on weekends, creating dust clouds when winds pick up. The noise typically dies down after sunset, leaving highway sounds from the distant roadway.
Campers should pack all water and supplies, as no services exist nearby. The treeless landscape offers unobstructed views but zero shade protection. Fly populations can become problematic during certain periods, particularly around any dumped garbage. Cell service reaches most areas of the site.
For additional options, see camping near Eagle Mountain or nearby Seven Mile Pass. This spot works best for OHV riders comfortable with desert conditions and weekend crowds.
