Lake Conroe-Houston North KOA

Highway noise from busy Route 105 reaches most sites at this KOA, with front-row spots experiencing the most traffic sounds even late into the evening. The campground sits off the main road in Montgomery, featuring concrete pads and full hookups that accommodate RVs up to 75 feet. Despite the name, Lake Conroe-Houston North KOA is not located directly on Lake Conroe itself, though the actual lake lies within driving distance for day trips.

A fishing pond anchors the property's center, where campers catch small mouth bass according to reviews. The concrete sites provide level parking with good spacing between neighbors, and several campers mention the campground hosts a mix of overnight visitors and long-term residents. Staff members receive consistent praise for friendliness and attentiveness, with services like trash pickup and ice delivery adding convenience for RV travelers.

Standard KOA amenities include a pool, hot tub, and playground equipment, though some features like the bounce pillow may be temporarily out of service. The bathhouse and laundry facilities draw mixed reviews regarding cleanliness standards. Kelly S. notes "wide variety of spacious spots to choose from" but adds "the restrooms/shower houses were not clean."

The location works well for families needing a convenient overnight stop or base camp for exploring the greater Houston area. Sophia describes it as "not a good place for nature or pretty views" but acknowledges it's a "clean, safe KOA per usual." Reservations are recommended, especially for weekend stays when area campgrounds fill quickly. For travelers seeking additional accommodation options in the region, there are places to camp near Montgomery within the broader area.

Many campers appreciated the spacious concrete sites and consistently friendly staff. Highway noise and facility cleanliness were recurring concerns, though families enjoyed the pond and activities.

Nice, friendly, clean, and convenient campground will visit again

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The setting is peaceful and convenient. Our site was right in the stock pond. It seems the campground is mostly full time residents which isn’t bad. We wished there were more amenities as it’s a Holiday site. The pool was nice and the hot tub. Our kids were disappointed that there was no bounce pillow as it was damaged. We will still visit this location again when visiting friends. The staff was super friendly and very attentive.

Not very Scenic

Not on Lake Conroe, & near a busy highway with businesses in view. Not a good place for nature or pretty views. Good place for a 1 night stay- lots of kids & families. Clean, safe KOA per usual though.

Nice location

Wide variety of spacious spots to choose from. Campground is clean, 2 camp K9 to choose from. Nice bathrooms and laundry facilities. Only complaint is the restrooms/shower houses were not clean. For the price, I would expect clean facilities.

Eh, not exactly Lake Conroe Views

This KOA does have a lake, or rather a retention pond, but don’t mistake the name for this campground actually being on or near Lake Conroe, it’s off a busy highway in the city of Conroe but not on the lake. Typical KOA amenities plus a number of cabins.

great stay

we stayed there thur -sun in nov.  our sight was concrete, nice and level, and good size.  neighbors were all polite and no noise / crazy issues.  we did not use any of the amenities, but it seemed nice.  the only con i can give the place is it being right off of 105.  that is a busy road even late into the nights.  we had a spot in the front of the park and there was a good amount of road noise.  staff is very friendly and wonderful. we would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Great 5 days here

This was in my top 5 KOA’s to stay at. We stayed 5 days. Close to amazing Lake Conroe. We had a blast here. Fishing in the pond for some small mouth. Each and every staff member was friendly and courteous. The spots are spread out with tons of room. We will be back here definitely!!!

This is a nice campground

Trash pickup, delivery ice! This is not the average campground. Concrete sites with a beautiful fishing pond. Really friendly staff. We have found our Conroe home away from home. Great for kids.

After hours tent camping

My wife, son, and I arrived around 9pm on a Saturday because two other Sam Houston National Forest campgrounds we intended to stay at were already full. Since it was after hours we were skeptical that we would actually find a spot out of the 5 available but thankfully there was 1 spot left #2, in between two other campers who had obviously been there all day. Water on site for each camper, and electricity, two benches around a firepit, and a picnic table. We arrived after hours and were not given a bathroom code so that was an issue and not ideal, but all else was ok. We left by 9am.

Sad broken down campground.

This used to be a great place to camp but it's not kept up. Hot tub didn't work, hot water didn't work and staff lies to you. Find somewhere else to go.

Worst KOA ever!

Park has a ton of amenities and is quite nice. Unfortunately, they feel no need to clean the bathrooms. We have been here for three days and are disgusted and will be leaving early. We love KOA and are in shock!
