Where Cherokee National Forest's forested terrain meets mountain creek waters, Bald Mountains Campground sits as a US Forest Service facility requiring a mile-long hike to reach. The established campground accommodates larger groups, with one recent visitor noting the presence of roughly a hundred other campers during their stay.
Access involves a moderately challenging uphill trek, making this location less suitable for those preferring drive-up convenience. The forested setting provides natural shade, while nearby water sources offer cooling relief during warmer months. For tent camping enthusiasts exploring the broader region, tent sites around Cherokee National Forest present additional backcountry options. Pack light for the hike in, but bring enough supplies for your entire stay since resupply requires the return trek.
