The sound of running water from a nearby creek sets the tone at this forested campground in the Tuscarora Mountains. Fowlers Hollow State Park Campground operates from mid-April through mid-December, offering both electric hookup sites for RVs and walk-in tent sites spread across its compact layout. Greg K. notes the campground is "nestled between a hillside and a stream with a great sound of running water."
Access involves a dirt road that can present challenges, particularly after dark or in poor weather conditions. The campground divides into two sections: back-in electric sites that accommodate larger RVs up to 32 feet, and walk-in tent sites that remain less crowded. Some sites are labeled as waterfront, though proximity to the creek varies significantly. Modern restrooms serve both sections, and a dog park area provides space for pets on the walk-in side.
Multiple hiking and walking trails connect directly to the campground, leading into the surrounding state forest where old stone fireplaces and chimneys mark historical sites. The remote location contributes to notably quiet conditions, with minimal traffic noise or urban interference. Winter activities include cross-country skiing when snow conditions permit.
Campers seeking more amenities can explore places to camp near New Germantown, while Wildwood RV Resort offers full-service camping four miles west.
