Where the rolling hills of Bucks County meet the expansive waters of Lake Nockamixon, this state park cabin facility provides fully electric accommodations with heating systems positioned along the shoreline. The cabins sit within walking distance of multiple boat launches and offer direct access to Pennsylvania's third-largest lake.
Each cabin includes full electrical service and climate control, making them suitable for year-round use. John S. found the units "well appointed" during a fall family trip, noting their similarity to other state park cabin designs. The lakeside positioning puts campers within easy reach of the water while maintaining separation from the day-use areas that can draw crowds during peak season.
The 1,450-acre lake dominates the recreational landscape here. "Nockamixon is full of options for activities in and out of the lake," reports Katrina D.. Three boat ramps provide access for powerboats, sailboats, and kayakers, though wake activity creates choppy conditions throughout much of the lake. On-site boat rentals eliminate the need to trailer watercraft. Swimming areas and fishing spots dot the shoreline, while hiking trails wind through the surrounding woodlands, though trail marking receives mixed reviews from visitors.
Reservations secure cabin bookings through the state park system, with rates ranging from $70 to $91 per night depending on season and specific unit. The park allows pets and permits alcohol consumption within designated areas. Campers exploring beyond the immediate area can find campgrounds around Nockamixon State Park or venture toward Lake Towhee County Park for alternative overnight options. The combination of lake access and cabin comfort draws families seeking a base for water recreation without tent setup.
Description
The 5,286-acre Nockamixon State Park is in the rolling hills of scenic Bucks County, close enough to Philadelphia for a day trip, but far enough away for a vacation. Tohickon Creek, Three Mile Run and Haycock Run feed the 1,450-acre Lake Nockamixon, which is a rest stop for migrating waterfowl and a destination for boaters and anglers.
