Gravel roads stretch 25 miles to reach this dispersed BLM campground, where natural hot springs draw visitors to a remote corner of southeastern Oregon. Two pools separated by a handmade divider offer different temperatures, with the warmer pool proving more popular among soakers. The sandy-bottomed springs maintain relatively clear water without strong sulfur odors.
Camping areas spread across two zones. Sites cluster near the vault toilet at road's end, accommodating four to five vehicles close to the hot springs. Additional dispersed spots line the access road, positioned within walking distance of the pools. Fire rings built by previous campers dot the area alongside two picnic tables, though dedicated amenities remain minimal.
Road conditions vary significantly along the route. The first few miles allow speeds up to 55 mph, while washboard sections require slower travel. Most vehicles manage the journey, including sedans and RVs, though the final mile presents rougher conditions. Kevin C. notes "star gazing here is incredible" given the location's distance from urban areas.
Campers must pack all water and supplies, as the nearest services sit in Fields about 40 miles away. The single vault toilet often lacks paper. Wildlife sounds from the nearby creek provide nighttime ambiance, while antelope herds roam the surrounding rangeland. For additional camping options in the region, see campgrounds near Denio.
