About 7 miles northwest of Eddyville, Big Elk Campground operates year-round within Siuslaw National Forest on a first-come, first-served basis. The US Forest Service maintains roughly a dozen individual campsites at $10 each, plus a separate hiker-biker area for $5 per person. Two pit toilets and potable water serve the campground, with firewood available for purchase from the camp host. Cell service does not reach the area. The campground connects to the 60-mile Corvallis to Coast Trail, though pets are not permitted on the grounds.
