North Arm Campground

Reservations are available for this 18-site Forest Service campground on Timothy Lake, with rates ranging from $24-$30 per night during the Memorial Day to Labor Day season. The campground accommodates RVs up to 45 feet, though campers should prepare for rough road access leading to the site.

Drive-in sites offer considerable privacy with generous spacing between neighbors. Khat T. notes the campground has "clean new vaulted toilets and accessible drinking water." Walk-in sites positioned directly along the lake edge provide immediate water access, making them popular with paddlers and swimmers. Several reviewers mention the lake's surprisingly warm water temperature during summer months.

Mount Hood views emerge on clear days across the lake's surface. The surrounding trail system allows hikers to circle the entire lake, with multiple access points to secluded shoreline areas. Fishing opportunities exist, though success varies according to visitor reports. Cell service is notably absent throughout the campground area, requiring campers to plan accordingly for communication needs.

Tent campers should expect uneven ground at many sites, requiring careful setup and potentially extra padding. Vault toilets serve the campground, though some reviews mention odor issues during peak season. The camp host provides firewood delivery service directly to sites. For additional camping options in the region, campers can explore campgrounds around Mt. Hood National Forest.

Evening temperatures drop significantly even during summer visits, making warm sleeping gear essential. The combination of lakefront access, dispersed camping options, and limited site count appeals to campers seeking a quieter forest experience with water recreation opportunities.

Best on Timothy Lake

I love coming to Timothy Lake in the summer and North Arm is a favorite campground. It's smaller and more rustic than the busy sites on the other side of the lake.

The area of the lake is almost like it's own small pond. The sites are wooded. Wonderful camp hosts. Clean pit toilets. Small boat ramp for launching kayaks.

Lots of water birds. Peaceful!

Mesa Verde

Not sure how we ended here, but it is a really nice camp. The only disadvantage is that it couldn't be reserved through recreation.org. Toilets, water, showers (free), washers (1,75 or 2,25 $, dryer .25 for 5 min) and free wifi at store. Sweet

Absolutely beautiful!

The scenery and the placid, warm lake, make this my favorite place to camp in Oregon. The campsites can be very uneven for tents, but we’ve always made it work. The lake is never crowded and by using the trail that goes around the lake you can basically have your own private beach anywhere. The water is surprisingly warm. Can be very cold at night. Cell service is non-existent.

Beautiful and serene!

This is one of my absolute favorite places to camp on Hood. I love how beautiful the surrounding area is and the water is so very clear and fun to swim in! The fishing is also really good so overall I always have the best time!

Huge Campsites

Lots of dispersed camping right on lake edge. Beautiful views of mount hood on clear days. Bring bug spray if it's spring or summer! Developed camp sites are spaced further apart than most campgrounds.

Amazing Views of Mount Hood

Can be tough to get reservations as they are limited, but if you plan ahead or are lucky, this place is great. Nice lake with awesome views of Mount Hood. We tried fishing here with no luck. Just spent one night and would like to spend more time exploring.

Stayed a week! So pretty!

This was so peaceful. We tent camped for a week in the summer. Took nice long hike around the lake twice with the kids. The spots are huge, the toilets smell so bad though. Make sure to bring sanitizer definitely. The views in the morning make it worth it though.
