Big Sandy Campground

With 60 sites accommodating RVs up to 60 feet, Big Sandy Campground operates seasonally from late April through October along drive-in access roads. Full hookups include electric, water, and sewer connections, plus amenities like restrooms, showers, and a dump station for self-contained units.

The property centers around two lakes that provide swimming and fishing opportunities. Campers can choose between wooded sites and more open areas, with campfires permitted throughout the grounds. Beth G. noted the owner's hands-on approach, mentioning how she was greeted personally "as she watered the flowers" and received help backing into their site. The same reviewer highlighted the lakes as key features, describing "a great little lake to swim another area to fish."

Pet-friendly policies welcome dogs throughout the campground. The facility hosts seasonal activities including fireworks displays during holiday periods. Sites fill up during peak summer months, though the campground accepts reservations to secure preferred dates and locations.

Located southeast of campgrounds just outside Whitehouse, the property sits within range of several other camping options including nearby White Oak Campground. Book ahead for summer weekends when lake access draws the heaviest crowds.

Way over-priced

Campgrounds looks very nice. Two beautiful lakes, nice wooded lots available but $40 for a primitive tent campsite is a bit much. I did not stay.

Back Again

We love the owners of this place so it’s our go to when we have softball in the area. Easy relaxed setting, beautiful lake and wide open area across our site. Our tournament got changed and we had to leave early but will be back again. The kids said the lake was getting a little more fishy and less swim friendly but I wasn’t in it this time to verify.

Love this place! Can’t wait to go back!

The first time we stayed here we were coming in late... and the owner said Are you Beth... as she watered the flowers. Yes, wow that felt welcoming... then she helped us back in and our neighbors brought us drinks on a tray. Where are we? This is amazing! Welcoming at its core!
Nice sites, a great little lake to swim another area to fish. They had great fireworks and simple outdoor fun. We’ve been back about 4-5 times and will be back in a week for our longest trip ever - 11 days. We have teenage kids and dogs... we all love it!
