Six Flags Darien Lake Campground

Amusement park enthusiasts find Six Flags Darien Lake Campground operates as the official overnight base for the adjacent theme park, with sites accommodating RVs up to 80 feet and tent camping across a mix of wooded and open areas. The campground functions primarily as lodging for park visitors, with most campers purchasing theme park tickets as part of their stay.

Sites vary significantly in layout and utility placement. Several reviewers note electrical hookups listed as 30-amp often provide only 20-amp service, with power pedestals sometimes positioned 75 feet from water connections. Rob L. found "the power box was well in front of your camper and water was on the wrong side of the camper." About half the sites offer tree cover while others sit in open fields with closer spacing between neighbors.

The campground provides full hookups, restrooms, showers, and a camp store, though prices at the store carry significant markups according to multiple reviews. Direct access to Six Flags Darien Lake makes multiple park visits convenient throughout the day. The concert venue requires a longer walk but remains accessible on foot. Staff assistance extends beyond typical campground services, with maintenance help available for RV issues.

Road conditions within the campground can present challenges, with no posted speed limits creating safety concerns given the high number of children present. Michael M. notes the facility offers "almost every kind of camping available through the park." The location works well for concert-goers and families planning extended theme park visits.

For additional camping options in the region, Cherry Hill Campground sits less than a mile south. Reserve sites well ahead during peak summer months and concert weekends when demand peaks.

Many visitors reported excellent family-friendly amenities and helpful staff, with convenient theme park access being a major draw. However, occasional complaints involved noise levels and electrical hookup issues that affected some stays.

Great family recreation spot

Obviously being connected to Six flags is a fun family stop, but every part of the camping experience is treated with attention to detail and great services. We needed help with our water heater in our own RV and the camp team sent over a mechanic to sort it out within minutes. Free of charge. Good people nice natural and spacious sites and fun for the family

Big time birthday spot!

We rented a trailer with slide outs for a few days in the middle of the week for a birthday party for our friend’s daughter and it was perfect! The trailer was close to the entrance to the park and was clean and hooked up when we got there. The screen door was broken and the little plastic slider was missing so it let in bugs, but everything else’s worked.

Not all rides are open every day so it was nice to spend multiple days going to the park multiple times a day, plus it’s really great to be able to head back to the trailer to change or eat. The camp store was really expensive so I’m glad we remembered to bring everything, there’s was a huge mark up on everything.

All in all, everything was totally worth it and birthday girl had an awesome time going on her first roller coasters.

Party

I haven’t been here in a while but people mostly stay here for one of two reason. Because they don’t want to drive home drunk from a concert, or they have 14 loud kids that want to be at the amusement park. Both options come with about 2 hours of sleep 🙂

It’s good and bad

It’s about a 50/50 of wooded to open sites. Decent amount of room in the sites. They advertise 30 amp but most are actually 20 amp and run on dangerously low voltage. Our site the electric was 75 feet away from the water hookup. Terrible setup.

It is what it is

It was good if you’re planning to go to a concert or the park. It was loud and not very relaxing. Don’t know if I would stay there again.

Darien Lake camping resort

Large campground, with almost every kind of camping available through the park. Cabins, trailers, tents, and every type of space for whatever your mode of camping is. Since it is attached to 6 flags you have every amenity available to you . Campstore, cafe, gift shop, showers and laundry. The only negative and for me it's a big negative is that there are no posted speed limits on the grounds, and I found that the majority of people were driving way to fast with so many kids around

Fun

Great place clean camp ground. Lots of fun we had breakfast there and lunch was pretty expensive near the pools. Would not camp there if we weren’t going to Darien lake. We went on that new swing ride that was really high it was a lot of fun!

Only if you have to

This campground is only worth staying at if you’re going to the park. The bathrooms are small dirty and there’s not enough of them. The hookups are pathetic most sites I saw that were listed as 30 amp were not and the power box was well in front of your camper and water was on the wrong side of the camper. We had a shaded and wooded site which was ok but the mowing and maintenance was terrible.

Lot of geese poop

Good for the purpose it serves as the campground to an amisement park but not good as a stand alone campground.

Convenient

This is nice place to stay if you’re just looking for a site in a field. It’s loud and you’re on top of your neighbor but it is literally right next to the park. Good for late night concerts.

Easy to get in and out

This campground is great if youre into the theme park. I used to go to kingdom bound and we always stayed at this campground. The bathrooms were always easy to find and clean. The staff is always very nice and helpful. It was such a fun campground.

Great access, but pricey

The campground itself is pretty and well kept. Some sites are a little tight, but most people aren't there to camp, they're going to the park or a concert, or both. Unless you're a season ticket holder at Darien Lake, you will be forced to purchase tickets to the Darien Lake amusement park when camping here.

The camp store is well stocked and the staff are nice. Access to the park is very easy. The walk to the concert venue is long, but flat and easy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Six Flags Darien Lake Hotel & Campground offer WiFi access for campers?

WiFi availability isn't specifically mentioned in information about the campground. However, given that Six Flags Darien Lake is a large, developed facility with numerous amenities including a hotel, theme park, and comprehensive campground services, some form of internet connectivity is likely available in common areas if not throughout the property. For guests requiring reliable internet access, it's advisable to contact the campground directly to confirm current WiFi availability and any potential usage fees before your stay.

What are the camping prices and options at Six Flags Darien Lake Campground?

Six Flags Darien Lake Campground offers diverse accommodation options including tent sites, RV sites (standard and premium), rental campers with slide-outs, and cabins. A major benefit is that campground fees typically include admission to the theme park, making it an economical option for families visiting the amusement park. Sites vary in setting, with approximately half wooded and half open. Amenities include a camp store, cafe, gift shop, showers, and laundry facilities. While specific pricing isn't detailed, packages that combine camping and park admission provide good value, especially for families planning multiple days at the theme park.

How does concert access work when staying at Six Flags Darien Lake Campground?

The campground is ideally situated for concertgoers, with many guests specifically choosing to stay here when attending performances at the venue. Unlike park admission (which is often included with camping fees), concert tickets are generally purchased separately from your camping reservation. The campground's proximity to the concert venue allows for easy walking access, eliminating transportation concerns. Many campers appreciate being able to return directly to their site after late-night concerts without having to drive home. This convenience makes the campground particularly popular during concert dates, though be prepared for a more lively, social atmosphere on these nights.

How does camping at Six Flags Darien Lake compare to Darien Lake State Park?

Six Flags Darien Lake Campground is purpose-built for theme park and concert visitors, offering direct access to attractions but with a more developed, busy atmosphere. Sites can be close together with some hookup challenges, and you'll experience more noise from neighbors, concerts, and the nearby train tracks. The campground includes theme park admission in camping fees and provides amenities like a camp store, cafe, and rental accommodations. In contrast, Darien Lake State Park likely offers a more traditional camping experience focused on nature, with quieter surroundings, more privacy between sites, and typical state park amenities. Choose Six Flags for entertainment access, choose the state park for a more peaceful outdoor experience.
