Piedmont Park

Just over four miles east of Piedmont, Piedmont Park sits on the shores of Clearwater Lake within the Army Corps of Engineers recreation area. This established campground operates seasonally from mid-April through September, accommodating everything from tent campers to large RVs up to 120 feet with electric and water hookups at most sites.

The campground's main draw centers on lake access and swimming opportunities. A designated swimming beach keeps boats away from swimmers, though water levels can create an inclined beach area. Sites closest to the water, like A15, trade shade for direct lake views and include covered picnic tables, fire rings, and paved pads. Jon L. noted his lakeside spot was "lacking shade but made up for it with the view." The single shower house serves all three camping loops with four shower stalls and flush toilets, while vault toilets are scattered throughout the park.

Campers report mixed cell service and should expect limited coverage in some areas. The campground stays well-maintained with clean facilities, though staff may not be present mid-week. Nearby options include ABC Campground and River Road Park for those seeking alternatives. Wildlife sightings, including bald eagles, add to the experience for visitors who prioritize water recreation and don't mind seasonal limitations.

Visitors often highlighted well-maintained sites and clean facilities with excellent lake access for swimming and fishing. Some noted concerns about bathroom distances and occasional cell service issues.

Beautiful Place

This is a beautiful campground. It is an older campground but very well maintained and very clean. The view from my camp is spectacular. I have electric, water, a covered picnic table, a fire ring and all for $8/night with my pass discount. Only negative thing I can say is the long hike to the bathrooms, but not really all that bad. Wonderful campground, will stay here again

Better than Expected!!

Despite living in this general area my entire life I’ve never been to Clearwater Lake, the trip was better than I expected. We got an amazing spot with 10/10 views. The first day it did rain, keeping us in the car, but after that we were able to set up our site and head straight to the water! It was pretty hot tent camping but not unbearable.

Boating, Swimming, & Fishing

We stayed here when the Clear Water Lake was at record flooding level, boat docks were cut off from any foot traffic. So we had the campground mostly to ourselves. Bald Eagle flew above us! Nice place.

Family weekend

My family and I had a fun time at Piedmont Park. The swimming beach was the main attraction for us. The beach has a designated swimming area that boats can’t access. Due to the water level the beach had a bit of an incline. The water was a great temperature and the sand was clean. No alcohol allowed on the beach. We stayed right next to the beach in site A15. Spot was lacking shade but made up for it with the view. Site includes concrete picnic table, pavilion over said table, fire pit, 30 amp electric, and paved pad (very roomy). Only one shower house for all 3 loops. 4 shower stalls (one ADA) and 2 flush toilets. There are latrine style toilets throughout the park but they smelled like they needed to be pumped.

Shade and clean

All of the sites were pretty well shaded and there are lots to choose from. The shower house is clean and up-to-date. Nice handicap showers. The sites are kept clean. Drawback is no cell signal. And no attendees present on Wednesdays and Thursdays. They are experimenting with a new phone system at the gate house. They need to get the kinks worked out.
