Rivertown Rose Campground sits on the outskirts of Vicksburg, offering full hookups and year-round access for RVs and tent campers. The privately managed facility features pull-through sites on gravel roads, with most accommodating big rigs without difficulty. Mature trees provide shade throughout the campground, while wide grass strips between sites create space between neighbors.
Campers consistently note the clean bathhouses and well-maintained facilities. Elizabeth S. highlights that the campground "has laundry, propane services and lots of mature trees for shade." The small pool provides relief during warmer months, and a playground offers entertainment for families with children. Staff members receive frequent praise for their helpfulness, including providing after-hours check-in through a drop box system.
The location puts visitors within easy reach of Vicksburg's historic downtown and the National Military Park battlefield. Many campers use the facility as a base for exploring Civil War sites or visiting the nearby casino. Train noise occurs regularly, though most reviewers accept this as part of the area's character. Cell service varies across the property, with some sites receiving better coverage than others.
Site hookups require attention to positioning since connections sit at the extreme end of each site. Several reviewers mention needing to unhook tow vehicles to access utilities properly. The campground accepts various discount programs, with rates fluctuating based on season and membership status. Reservations help ensure availability, particularly during peak travel periods when construction workers and contractors occupy many sites.
For those exploring the region, places to camp near Vicksburg provide additional options for extended stays or different amenities.
