Operated by Schoolcraft Township, this municipal campground provides five large sites directly on Lake Superior's shoreline along Big Traverse Bay. Campers park in a designated lot and walk a short distance to reach the sites, which sit just behind the beach with a small hill offering some wind protection. Each site includes a fire ring, and a covered manual water pump serves the campground along with vault toilets near the parking area.
Permits must be obtained in advance from the township office in Lake Linden, about 10 miles west, with limited office hours requiring advance coordination. Late summer visitors may find wild blueberries and huckleberries growing in the area. For additional camping options in the region, consider places to camp near Hubbell.
