Lake Sch-Nepp-A-Ho Family Campground sits on a private lake in Muskegon, operating seasonally from May through September with sites accommodating RVs up to 45 feet. The campground runs along US Highway 31, which creates road noise that several campers mention, particularly for sites closest to the roadway. Sites are closely spaced, with lakefront spots commanding premium rates and offering the most desirable camping experience.
The private lake serves as the campground's main draw, featuring clear water where children can spot fish swimming below the surface. A floating trampoline anchors in the swimming area, and the beach maintains clean sand that families appreciate. Marc W. found "clear water, clean sand and a floating jumping trampoline for the kids" during his lakeside stay. The campground provides kayaks, rowboats, and paddle boats for guest use, though availability varies throughout busy periods.
Fishing draws many visitors to the private waters, where no Michigan fishing license is required. Anglers report catching bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish from the shoreline and docks. The campground maintains clean bathhouses and shower facilities that consistently earn praise from families. A small store sells firewood, ice, and basic supplies, while weekend activities in the clubhouse provide entertainment for children during peak season.
Most sites offer electric hookups, with some lakefront locations including water connections. Portable restrooms are positioned near sites without full facilities. The campground accepts reservations and allows pets, making it accessible for various camping styles. Road access can be tight for larger RVs, with the entrance requiring careful maneuvering. For those exploring the broader region, places to camp near Twin Lake provide additional options within a few miles.
The combination of private lake access, family amenities, and proximity to Michigan Adventure theme park makes this campground work well for families willing to trade some peace and space for water recreation and convenience.
