Gitche Gumee RV Park & Campground

We stayed for a month, twice the owner tried to tell us we owed more money. My wife had to show him the emails they exchanged, proving him wrong. The campground has very hard water, to the point our shower is stained pretty bad even though we had multiple filters and a water softener . Our site was nice and a short walk to Lake Superior.

Definitely a unique spot. The staff was really kind. They have some cool amenities like billiards and house crafted beer. The spots were spacious in the woods and had a good feel. Can’t beat the location either, given it’s right across from Lake Superior beach access.

Beware! I booked this campground over a year ago. I had to change plans due to family matter which prevented us from visiting this campground. I spoke with Jeff in October and he said not an issue and would refund my money. After multiple phone calls, he still hasnt refunded my money. He is now refusing to take my calls. Jeff is a liar, cheat and dishonest owner that shouldnt be trusted. If he turns this problem around I will update. We visited Gitche Gumee RV Park, no overnight stay. UPDATE: Jeff still refuses to talk to me. He is the worst Campground owner I have come across in my 3 1/2 yrs of full timing.

I called to see if they had room about 3 weeks out. We were just looking for a weekend stay. Everywhere else was booked so I wasn’t hopeful. The owner answered the phone, even gave me a little background about the place- and was happy to take my booking. He accepted my card over the phone without issue. He did not assign us a site until we arrived however which initially made me nervous. But we ended up with a great spot and we were happy. It is nice and wooded through most of the park. There are several buildings onsite that we didn’t get to peek into due to other plans around the area. We will definitely be back! Something to note: we had zero cell service though att. There was internet supplied in the park, but it disappeared the 2nd morning. I inquired on the internet and was told there wasn’t a problem. We will just plan for that next time.

The theme of this campground is western and fun. They have so much potential but the main guy is something else. Honestly gut feeling he made me feel so uncomfortable we couldn’t stay.

He made me wait 30 minutes while he went and got beer for a couple. There were two others behind us in line. He said it was $80 a night, when we said ok no thanks he asked us what we wanted to pay. Not trying to negotiate just not paying $80

The property is massive several sites were available, the dumpster was over flowing so bad that a big pile had formed next to it.

Not recommending… didn’t feel safe

Don’t judge a book by its cover. The campgrounds are a bit “quirky”…lots of art and signs etc. BUT the owner and his family were really sweet and cared about the guests. They do not take credit cards…we had to mail a check to reserve. But it all worked out. Bathrooms/showers need work but the sites are nice and wooded. You can walk across the street to the beach along Lake Superior and are drive distance to Black Rock and Pictured Rock. They even have a brewery in the campground.

We didn’t get as far as planned one night and called on a whim. They had a spot open and were super accommodating. There is so much to look at here!! Love the character of the place!

Nice site. Lake across the road. Quiet. Sites have full hook ups. Host is friendly! But it was $69 for one night and he said it’s $79 on wknds. Other campgrounds around the area - may check those out next time.

Has a micro brewery onsite too.

Nice, clean, quiet right on the lake. Full hookups, level sites and lots of room for large gatherings at the party pit. A short drive to Marquette.
