Accessible only by boat or on foot, Chippewa Harbor Campground provides a handful of shelters along Isle Royale's remote shoreline. The National Park Service maintains basic facilities including outhouses, though campers should plan for no potable water or cell reception at this location. Fishing boats occasionally dock here, with anglers using the area as a meal stop during their trips around the island. The shelters follow the standard Isle Royale design found at other backcountry sites. Arrive early in the week for the best chance of securing one of the limited shelters, as availability becomes tight by midweek during peak season.
