Army Corps of Engineers manages this forested campground along the Fishing Creek arm of Lake Cumberland, where sites accommodate RVs up to 87 feet with water and electric hookups. The entrance requires navigation down a steep hill with a sharp left turn into the campground—miss it and drivers end up at the boat ramp parking area instead.
Lakefront sites provide direct water views, though accessing the lake involves steep inclines between camping areas. Karen P. notes "Access to the water is not so great. You have to go down steep inclines between campgrounds." The campground includes a boat ramp where visitors can launch watercraft and leave boats in the water below their sites. A public picnic area and small beach attract local day users, particularly on weekends when the atmosphere becomes more crowded and active.
The bathhouse features clean but compact shower facilities, with one handicap-accessible unit available. Campers consistently mention the quiet weekday atmosphere, though some find the dump station challenging to reach due to switchback turns at the hill's top. Sites vary in privacy, with corner locations like site 31 offering more seclusion among the trees.
For additional camping options in the region, see camping near Cumberland Recreation Area. The campground works well for RV campers seeking lake access and families wanting boat-friendly accommodations during the May through September season.
