Kamp Siesta

With 42 sites spread across a county-operated facility, Kamp Siesta accommodates RVs up to 35 feet with electric and water hookups at $10 per night from April through October. The campground sits adjacent to Oswego's fairgrounds and city park, which features a swimming pool, tennis courts, and playground facilities on a bluff overlooking the Neosho River.

Campers access the grounds easily from the highway with ample maneuvering space for larger rigs. Three pull-through sites are available among the 42 total spots. The facility includes restrooms, showers, and a dump station, with shade trees throughout the camping area. A wooded trail extends behind the campground, and nearby strip pits from former coal mining operations provide fishing opportunities. Danny Elliott Park sits just north of the facility for additional options.

Nice, quiet campground with lots of parking spots

We camped here in October 2021 to close out our season and as a waypoint to Beaver Lake. This is a very nice, quaint little municipal campground. The shower house was clean enough, the spots were all well-maintained, and everything worked as advertised. There is a city park right around the bend that has all kinds of stuff, and there are basketball courts, volleyball courts, and horseshoe pits within short walking distance.

It may have been because of the time of year since the campground was about to close, but we were the only campers there for the whole week, which was totally awesome. There are 42 spots at Kamp Siesta, three of which are pull-through, so you cannot possibly beat this place for $10 a night.

Oh, and I forgot to mention the wooded trail right behind the campground. You definitely forget you're in Kansas back there!

A good waypoint stay in Southeast Kansas

Kamp Siesta is an establish campground in shade trees located adjacent to the fairgrounds and city park. The park is very nice and suitable for walking or biking and is on a bluff that overlooks the Neosho River. The park includes a swimming pool, tennis courts, pavilions, and playgrounds. Amenities such as gas stations, hardware store, restaurants and groceries are all with a mile or two of the campground and well separated from them by quite neighborhoods. While there is not a lot to do in Oswego itself, it is close to strip pits east of town left over from coal mining that are good for fishing and there is a nice 9 hole golf course just west of town. There is also fishing down on the river. This river is known for it's large catfish. The park is easy to access from the highway and plenty of room to maneuver larger rigs. I grew up in this area and know it well. The campground is quiet and well patrolled and at $10 a night it a cheap but relaxing place to stop and unwind.

I believe it is open year round.
