Carthage City Park

Carthage City Park provides RV camping adjacent to a municipal golf course, with sites accommodating rigs up to 40 feet. The campground spreads around a central picnic pavilion, offering 30-amp electric hookups and water access on gravel pads. Tall trees provide some shade, though sites lack visual barriers between neighbors or from the golf course parking area.

Campers share the space with golfers during daytime hours, while evenings tend toward quiet. The park complex includes a swimming pool, large playground, and disc golf course near the lake. For additional options, see places to camp around Nauvoo. This setup works well for families seeking varied recreational activities within walking distance of their campsite.

Accessible, shady, and near sights to see

While they were working on adding a bath house with toilets the campground is at the local golf course to use. 30 amp and water only. Gravel pads, mostly level. Shade and quiet in pm. During day you have golfers but not enough to bother you. A pavilion is available for use. Good area close to stores, fuel and off-site dump station.

Camp with lots of activities

When we saw a campground connected to a golf course we had to check it out. Driving through town was a surprise. We saw a large theater with some upcoming musical events. Once at the city park we found more unexpected goodness. There is a pool and a very large playground. A frisbee golf course is tucked in next to the lake. The golf course is next- just keep winding along the road to get to the office.

The campground itself is right next to the golf course parking area. A picnic pavilion is central and the sites spread out around it. Sites have electric with water available. There is some shade from wonderfully tall trees but nothing separates you from the other campers(or golfers). We felt a bit on display.

This place could be a perfect setup for a family with the variety of activities present.
