Garfield Bay Campground

Within the Garfield Bay Access Site, this Idaho Department of Fish and Game campground operates from May through October along the shores of Lake Pend Oreille. The facility accommodates both RVs up to 22 feet and tent campers, though reviewers note the spaces run small and tight. All RV sites include electric, water, and sewer hookups, while tent campers can use the leveled sand squares provided at each spot.

The campground's layout creates limited privacy between sites, as Mika explains: "No privacy due to layout. Tent spots appear to offer more privacy." Trees provide shade throughout the camping area. Access to tent sites involves navigating a steep, bumpy road that some visitors find challenging. The facility relies on pit toilets with no shower facilities.

Lake access sits just a short walk from the camping area, connecting directly to the day-use zone. This proximity makes launching paddle boards or taking a swim convenient for campers. Fishing opportunities draw visitors to the lake, while hiking trails provide additional recreation options. The campground operates with a camp host and accepts reservations. For those exploring the broader region, campgrounds around Sagle offer additional overnight options in the area.

A primitive campground close to lake access that works well for tent camping but presents challenges for RVs. Visitors often highlighted tight spacing and limited privacy, though many mentioned the convenient proximity to swimming and water activities.

Nice access to lake

It’s a short walk down to the lake. The camp grounds is okay. It seemed as though the spot I was in was rather big but not spaced apart from surrounding camp sites. Overall good experience

Close to access lake day use area

Tent camped on RV spot. All spots have a leveled sand square for tents. Trees offered shade. No privacy due to layout. Tent spots appear to offer more privacy. However, be warned that the access road for tent sites is steep and bumpy. Pit toilets with no other amenities. Camp host is friendly enough. Camp is so close to the day use area. Perfect to go swim or paddle board.

Camper beware.

Very small spaces and tight quarters. Not for very big rvs at all. Spaces aren't very level. Does have picnic tables and a fire pit. Whole place is pretty primitive.
