Where the St. Joe River winds through dense Idaho forest, Fly Flat Campground sits at 2,100 feet elevation with drive-in access and boat launch facilities. The Forest Service maintains this small site from May through October, charging $7-$15 per night for RVs up to 30 feet and tent campers alike.
Three of the campsites provide direct river access, while others require a short walk to reach the water. Summer visitors report warm water temperatures that may limit fishing success. The lush, green setting attracts mosquitoes and other insects during peak season. Fellow campers tend to know each other and maintain a social atmosphere throughout the campground. Bring insect repellent for comfortable evening hours around the campfire.
