Idaho City Yurts — Idaho Parks and Recreation State Headquaters

Within Idaho Parks and Recreation State Headquarters, Idaho City Yurts provide a unique overnight experience requiring campers to hike or walk in to reach their accommodations. The state-managed facility operates year-round, with each yurt equipped with beds and a stove while campers bring all other gear and supplies.

The yurts heat up quickly once occupied, according to visitor reports. Each structure includes multiple beds and some games for entertainment during longer stays. Firewood comes included with yurt rentals, supporting the allowed campfires that help extend outdoor time into the evening hours. The walk-in access means campers should pack efficiently since everything must be carried to the site.

Amy S. notes the area offers "lots of hiking or cross-country skiing" depending on the season. Winter visitors can access groomed trails for cross-country skiing, while warmer months open up hiking opportunities in the surrounding terrain. The facility maintains restrooms and allows both pets and alcohol. Cell service reaches the area, helping with coordination for groups sharing yurt reservations.

Campers wanting drive-up access might consider Mountain View RV Park for a different camping style closer to Boise.

These Yurts are Awesome!

I have only been to there in the winter but I imagine that hiking in is just a beautiful!   You need to bring everything but a bed and stove, which are in the yurt.  Lots of hiking or cross-country skiing in the area.

Hard to hike to in snow

Nice and clean. Easy to warm up. Some games lots of beds. Firewood included in purchase of renting. One time I went I miss read the reservation date and got kicked out by another group. So we had to hike down in a snow storm. It was still fun.
