Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Havana, FL

High Bluff Campground's pet-friendly campsites provide direct access to Lake Talquin for dogs that enjoy swimming. The campground features spacious sites with picnic tables and fire rings where campers can set up tents or RVs with their pets. Coe Landing Campground also welcomes pets with designated areas along the shoreline for dogs to cool off. Both campgrounds maintain clean facilities with trash receptacles for pet waste disposal. Most sites at these locations are well-shaded, offering protection from the Florida heat during walks with dogs. Sites at High Bluff accommodate tents, RVs, and even glamping setups, while Coe Landing provides full hookups for RVs with pets. Campsites remain quiet and peaceful even with multiple dogs present, making them ideal for pet owners seeking tranquility.

Extensive fishing opportunities exist along Lake Talquin where dogs can accompany their owners on the fishing piers or boat launches. The surrounding forest areas offer natural trails for walking dogs, though owners should be prepared with flea and tick prevention as these parasites are commonly reported in reviews. Morning and evening walks prove most comfortable for pets during warmer months when temperatures are cooler. Wildlife sightings, including alligators near the fishing areas, require keeping dogs leashed and supervised at all times. The campgrounds' natural setting means pets should be monitored for encounters with local wildlife including snakes and raccoons. Big Oak RV Park provides an alternative closer to town with a designated dog area, though it's smaller than the lakeside options and fills quickly with long-term residents.

    Flat Creek Family Campground

Great Overnight Spot~close to Quincy & Torrey State Park

Visiting friends in Quincy, easy to reserve a last minute site. Pull through with FHU. Under $50 with our GS discount. Excellent Dog park(huge and clean with lots of grass and seating) Pool was behind our site, clean but didn’t use. Our 40” fifth wheel barely fit. The front sites, and back of the park were the best sites. Staff was friendly, and nice general store. Facilities were clean, but we didn’t use. Close to town I-10. Had fair connection with T-Mobile.

    Stay n Go RV Resort

Like their name says a good overnight campground

New convenient campground right off I-10. Level concrete FHU pull-throughs. Bare bones with no other facilities (restrooms, showers, pool, playground or dog park). Really designed just for an overnight

    Florida Caverns RV Resort

    Nice Stay

We stayed here for two nights/three days of a ten day trip. It was hands-down the nicest of the locations. Clean, concrete pads, excellent location and good wi-fi that was not up-charged. The pool area was nice and clean. Service and staff were excellent/friendly and they escorted us to our site upon arrival. They also have trash pickup at your site daily. We saw a security truck drive through several times and had no problems from our neighbors. The location near the water cannot be beat. We were located near the docks and I was able to launch my paddle board easily. The water was gorgeous and clear on the adjacent spring/pond. Our AT&T cell service was good.

My only(very minor) complaints are that there are very few trees or shaded areas at this location and it would have been nice to have the fire pits included at the site. We did not spend any time sitting outside our camper and we only did about ten minutes in the dog park because of the sun, but then again, it's Florida in July in an area that's still recovering from tornadoes and a major hurricane. And by the time we thought it had cooled off enough to enjoy s'mores in the evening, the office had long since closed so we couldn't rent a fire pit. We have family that we visit often in the area, so we will definitely stay here again! We camped at Florida Caverns RV Resort at Merritt's Mill Pond in a Travel Trailer.

    Alliance Hill RV Resort

    Such a nice park!

Beautiful, quiet country setting. Loved it!! Saw deer, many birds and gorgeous sunsets. Spacious sites with cement pads. Full hook-ups except cable. Able to get multiple channels with antenna only. Very nice clubhouse, pool, restrooms and laundry. Everything inside and out is immaculate. Fenced dog park with toys and obstacles. Gated RV park so only park guests are driving in. Manager, Stacey, cheerful and kind. Obviously enjoys her job. Park is within easy driving distance to 4 state parks and several small towns so we took day trips to sightsee. Would definitely stay here again if back in the area.

    Florida Caverns RV Resort

    Newer campground

Newer RV park. Clean restrooms. Pool and dog park are some of the amenities. There is a boat ramp and docks/slips, but the lake was almost empty - no fault of the campground. Some sites are paved some are not. No privacy between sites. Electric capacity lacking. Only had an amp hookup but needed outlets for our popup. No fire rings - need to rent. There is a store/gas station at the front of the park. Would not stay again for personal preference.

    Nice resort and friendly Stagg.

Nice campground resort. Within 10 mins to everything you need from Walmart to Hospital. Very nice Clubhouse with a kitchen that can be reserved by guests. Nice pool . Nice laundry room. And a workout room . The only downfall I have noticed is being able to hear the traffic from 90 in the evenings but not a big deal to me. Nice restrooms with showers . Fenced in dog park. Everything you need for a great stay !

    Tallahassee East Campground

    Do not bother unless emergency

Very run down campgrounds that used to be a KOA and now a Good Sams campground. Not maintained very much even though the few staff tried to clean it a bit. Weeds, not mowed, peeling ceilings in dated bath house with exterior doors that do not close or have keyed entry. Only trash can was in laundry room which was at least open 24 hours but many machines out of order. WiFi only during business hours. Friend stayed in minimal cabin and was dim missing bulbs and smoke detector. They even charge a pet fee to clean cabin after pets.

    River Junction - Lake Seminole

    Awesome surprise!

What an awesome surprise! COE campground on a dead end road (ends at the boat ramp) with water and power. Dump is just up the road on your way out of the park and super easy to get to. Level sites, nicely spaced and mostly shaded. I bet it’s even more beautiful in the spring and fall. Picnic table, fire pit, grill and a fish station at all sites. Walking distance to boat ramp and lake access. Pet friendly. Road in was paved and well maintained. First come first served and although there is a camp host on site there is no way to call to check availability. $20/night ($10/night senior citizen or Access Pass).

Guide to Havana

Lake Talquin provides the focal point for camping near Havana, Florida, with campgrounds situated along its 40 miles of shoreline. The area sits at approximately 100 feet above sea level, offering shoreline fishing access to the 8,800-acre reservoir. Weather conditions range from mild winters averaging 50°F to hot summers with temperatures frequently exceeding 90°F between June and September.

What to do

Hiking and trail access: Fort Braden Tract features three loop trails with elevation changes unusual for Florida terrain. The trails connect to primitive campsites near Lake Talquin. "Nice hiking with huge trail network at Fort Braden on adjacent property but the bummer is that there was way to connect to them from campground due to swamp and geography. As a result, had to drive about 3 miles to trailheads to walk my pups," notes Kathy L. about Coe Landing Campground.

Kayaking opportunities: The Ochlockonee River provides paddling routes connecting to Lake Talquin. "We kayaked and loved and I mean absolutely love being on this river. Did some swimming and fishing off the side. Caught some huge brim, they were delicious," reports Deborah B. at Ed and Bernices Fish Camp and RV Park.

Boat access: Many campgrounds maintain boat ramps for water access. "You have a boat ramp for use with your rental. The park and bathrooms are very clean. Staff is very nice and helpful. A fish cleaning station. Bring your toys for the river, we had a blast," states Elizabeth from Ed and Bernices Fish Camp.

What campers like

Waterfront camping sites: Campers appreciate direct lake access for fishing and relaxation. At Williams Landing Campground, Dawna J. reports: "Beautiful area with a friendly campground host, well maintained bathrooms. The sites are pull thru, which was nice as I am still not that great at backing up my little trailer."

Site privacy: Many campgrounds offer well-spaced sites. "We enjoyed our time here. Nice, small campground at edge of lake. Beautiful views. Everyone friendly," according to Kathy L. at Coe Landing Campground.

Wildlife viewing: The lake environment supports diverse wildlife observation opportunities. "Stumbled upon this campsite through the app and after reading the reviews figured I better check it out. You will not be disappointed! It's tucked away surrounding by lake. Extremely quiet! Woke up early to see the sunrise and it was the icing on the cake. Even witnessed a gator swimming!" shares Jacqueline F. about Coe Landing.

What you should know

Weather considerations: Summer heat impacts camping comfort. "Morning and evening walks prove most comfortable for pets during warmer months when temperatures are cooler," notes one visitor. Sarah L. from Coe Landing adds: "The only reason I would drop a star (but it's not their fault) is because there were SO many mosquitoes at night."

Insect preparations: Mosquitoes and other insects are common in this wetland environment. "Did some car camping here in March and it was already hot and full of mosquitos. The sites are huge and far from each other," explains Dan X. from Coe Landing Campground.

Primitive camping options: Fort Braden Tract Primitive Campsites offers undeveloped camping experiences. "A fantastic stay over all. About a mile hike in. Primitive, which is exactly what we wanted. Fetch your own water from the lake. No modern amenities. Brilliant view of Lake Talquin, right on the water," states Edward W.

Tips for camping with families

Wildlife safety: Families should maintain awareness of local wildlife. "Caught a beautiful sunset over the lake and saw a massive gator hanging out by the fishing pier. The gator was back in the morning as I was enjoying my cup of coffee out on the pier!" reports Tucker B. from High Bluff Campground.

Budget-friendly options: Several campgrounds offer affordable rates. "For a 26" tt the spot was just enough, a little rough to back into. Entirely worth it. If you're looking for a peaceful, quiet place this is it. Be sure to fill your water before arrival as there is no spigot," advises Joey S. about High Bluff Campground.

Animal interactions: Some locations offer unique opportunities for children. "Make sure you bring plenty of carrots and apples for the animals! Feeding them was a big highlight of our stay!" recommends Catherine A. after visiting Crazy 8 Ranch, which operates as an animal rescue facility with horses, pigs, and other farm animals.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: RVers should research site dimensions before booking. "Sites are gravel and some take creative leveling of the rig. Sites 3,4,5 back up to a fence with a private residence on the other side, they are pretty noisy at times," warns EMRY H. about Coe Landing.

Road conditions: Access roads to some campgrounds present challenges. "Residential park with several spots for campers. Everyone was very friendly. We had spot on the river. No real privacy as each spot pretty close to next," notes Cheri from Ed and Bernices Fish Camp.

Alternative campgrounds: When seeking pet friendly camping near Havana, Florida with better amenities, consider nearby options. "Very clean park that can accommodate big rigs. We found it to be pretty spacious and the pull through are awesome. Nightly price seems average for the location and the season," reports Alyssa S. from Tallahassee RV Park.
