Within Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area at Flagler Beach, this established campground sits along the Intracoastal Waterway with sites positioned between river and ocean access points. Managed by Florida's Division of Recreation and Parks, the facility accommodates RVs up to 90 feet with full hookups at $28 per night.
The campground operates on a loop system with distinct character depending on site location. Jack D. notes staying "near the river far end of the loop for a weekend" where "sites were far enough away from each other so you didn't feel packed in." Reviewers consistently highlight the facility's maintenance standards, with multiple campers noting exceptionally clean bathrooms and hot shower water. The outside loop provides more privacy than interior sites, though tent campers should expect generator noise from adjacent RV sites during evening hours.
Beach access requires a 10-minute walk across the street, while the riverside offers a boat launch for water activities. Several nature trails wind through the park, including paths to a butterfly garden. Fire pits and picnic tables come standard, though some grills may need replacement. Camp hosts sell firewood on-site, and a dump station operates near the entrance along with large dumpsters for waste disposal.
Reservations prove essential as the campground maintains high occupancy year-round. Kevin H. emphasizes the booking challenge, noting it's "hard to reserve - so have to plan a little." Dogs accompany campers but cannot access the state park beach, though the adjacent city beach permits pets. Peak seasons see particularly heavy demand for waterfront sites.
Campers seeking oceanfront camping can consider Beachside Camping — Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area at Flagler Beach, located just 0.3 miles southeast with direct beach access.
Description
Gamble Rogers is a small park tucked gently between the shores of the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway.
This 145-acre park located on barrier island is named for Florida folk singer and storyteller Gamble Rogers.
Swim and play in the surf of the Atlantic Ocean, build castles in the golden-brown coquina sand or watch pelicans glide along the dunes and ocean waves.
Anglers can catch red drum, whiting, flounder and trout from the banks of the river or along the beach, with toes in the sand.
Take a walk and explore the plant and animal life in the shady maritime hammock, or enjoy a picnic with watermelon and ice cream at one of the park’s many sheltered tables.
Fee Info
$28 per night, plus tax, plus a nonrefundable $6.70 reservation fee and a $7 nightly utility fee for RV, cabin, bungalow, boat and yurt units. Utility fee includes water, electricity and sewer. Utility fee does not apply to tent camping.
