This free dispersed camping area provides multiple well-spaced sites accessible via dirt roads within the forested boundaries of Osceola National Forest. Campers access the area by driving past the fire tower parking area and following sandy roads that accommodate full-size trucks but may challenge trailers. Each site includes picnic tables, fire rings, and animal-proof trash bins, with porta-potties located at the entrance.
The forested setting offers substantial spacing between camping spots, with sites large enough for multiple tents plus vehicles. AT&T provides 2-3 bars of service, though Verizon coverage proves spotty to nonexistent depending on the specific site. An outdoor cold water shower and drinking water spigot are available near the horse stables. Jamie W. notes the bathroom includes "a book exchange" for campers.
Weekend hunting activity brings additional vehicle traffic and dog noise, though most camping spots remain far enough apart to maintain privacy. The 14-day stay limit allows extended visits, and a camp host maintains the facilities daily. Campers seeking developed amenities might consider Lake City Campground for a different experience.
