The sound of Ophir Creek flowing through camp creates consistent background noise that masks nearby conversations and road sounds. This US Forest Service campground sits along a winding forest road about 6 miles from the town of campgrounds near Beulah, with walk-in sites that require carrying gear from parking areas to individual spots.
Many sites line the creek directly, offering water access and the natural white noise reviewers frequently mention. The campground fills up during peak season weekends but stays quieter on weekday visits. Sites feature standard picnic tables and fire rings, with vault toilets and pump water scattered throughout the grounds. Michael P. calls it "a great clean CG with an attentive host." RVs up to 15 feet can access sites with water and sewer hookups, though the access road gets rough in places.
A one-mile trail leads south from the campground to a waterfall, requiring three creek crossings on stacked log bridges. Reviewers note poison ivy along the creek and trail, particularly during summer months. The campground provides access to a nearby reservoir and sits close to Bishop Castle. For those wanting developed sites with vehicle access, Davenport Campground offers a different setup two miles east.
